OZZY OSBOURNE, SLASH Perform With CAMP FREDDY At Galpin Auto Sports Grand Opening - Oct. 21, 2008

Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, Macy Gray, Steve Jones, CYPRESS HILL, Mark McGrath and Steve Stevens are among the guest musicians who performed with CAMP FREDDY at the official grand opening of the vehicle customization facility Galpin Auto Sports this past Saturday night (October 18) in Van Nuys, California. CAMP FREDDY guitarist Billy Morrison writes in an online posting, "It's strange to me how one minute I am standing on one of the loudest stages I have ever experienced, playing 'Paranoid' with [Dave] Navarro [CAMP FREDDY guitarist], Slash and Steve Jones (all four of us playing that infamous riff), watching Ozzy play with the audience and sing the shit out of a song that he must have sung a million times.....and then it's all finished. Over. I am back at home, sipping coffee and watching fucking squirrels and birds do their morning thing!

Morrison continued, "[This past Saturday night's] show was just incredible ? culminating with Ozzy doing four songs with us ('Iron Man', 'I Don't Know', 'Crazy Train', and the huge guitar-fest that I described above on 'Paranoid') as well as CYPRESS HILL and Slash doing 'Rock Superstar' [video] and 'Paradise City', Mark McGrath and Steve Stevens rockin' 'Rebel Yell', Billy Duffy ripping on 'Wild Flower', Macy Gray storming through '7 Nation Army' .... just too many great moments in one show!"

Check out photos from the concert from Wire Image.

Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be viewed below.

Rock, rides and GAS

05:55 PM PT, Oct 22 2008

The auto industry is alive, well and rocking in Van Nuys. Galpin, the world?s most successful Ford dealership (according to Galpin) held a party Saturday night at its Roscoe Boulevard HQ. At least 2,000 people showed up to celebrate Galpin Auto Sports, one of the shiniest jewels in the company's crown. The bar was sponsored by Absolut, the event was catered by Wolfgang Puck, and the entertainment came from rapper Xzibit plus a rock supergroup, Camp Freddy.

This motley crew included guitar hero Dave Navarro (Jane?s Addiction and a spell with the Red Hot Chili Peppers) and drummer Matt Sorum (of Velvet Revolver, and formerly of Guns ?n? Roses), with guest spots by Macy Gray, Cypress Hill, Ozzy Osbourne and Slash (pictured below with Galpin Auto Sports President Beau Boekmann).

Galpin Auto Sports (GAS) is the vehicle customization facility that capitalizes on the success of the MTV series "Pimp My Ride," in which GAS oversees all the various remodeling, personalization and, well, pimpin?. In its showroom was a relatively understated Jaguar XK convertible with baby-blue carbon fiber trim and matching oversized wheels, but there also were more outlandish creations, including some from the godfathers of the Kustom Kulture scene: Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, George Barris and Von Dutch.

No, Matt has been looking for a new lead singer for the DS and he found one.

Their flyer says "The Darling Stilettos with special introduction by Velvet Revolver's Matt Sorum"...so I guess that's it.

Looks as though Navarro alone has resurfaced on Indie 103.1 with his own show.

From www.6767.com

"Tomorrow night is the premiere of my new radio show on Indie 103.1FM... Dark Matter... 12am-2am - Of course the phones will be open and I will have my friend and sometimes partner J Mello in to talk about what he is up to. More to come..."

And this from Billy Morrison on the future of Camp Freddy Radio:

"And Dave's new show on Indie is a different animal entirely - and as such will not include me. I wish him much success with that one and Camp Freddy Radio will surface again at some point in the future."
