Best Buy will be the only retail outlet to sell Chinese Democracy in the United States.

This isn't temporary, they will sell it forever.

Now, international, of course it will be a standard deal but in the US, if u don't have a Best Buy, u will have to order it online.

From what I understand, and I could be slightly wrong, but I think the retailer pays like a SET price. They agree to buy X amount of CD and whether they sell 5 million or 500,000, GNR/Universal get a flat fee.

so Best Buy may have to pay something like 20-25 million for CD

what this does is it gives Universal a HUGE profit with no downside

Of course Best Buy will have to sell 2.5 million copies to break even but what it does is, it gets people inside Best Buy that may normally not shop at Best buy. And while they are in Best Buy, they will impulse shop and take advantage of other awesome deals on various other items that Best Buy sell.

Its a win win all the way around and the people who win the biggest are the FANS!!!!!!!!!!!

Shackler's? or something we have never heard before? certainly it will be something else to double promote.

Hopefully there will be more the best buy gets a cd+bouns track(s)\disk, and the normal stores just get the default CD.
the other version would kinda suck for the people who dont have best buy.

on the other hand... it could be that Best buy gets the right to distribute the CD.
so lets say best buy buys 5 million CDs... the could put 4 millions on their shelves... but they sell the other 1 million to the small local stores.

Dont forget that the Body of Lies story was literally linked with the Best Buy deal being sealed story.  Del only confirmed the movie aspect, and was not asked about the Best Buy deal.  Something tells me that's being prepped for a major announcement.   The next few weeks should prove to be very interesting.

I'm starting to get quite optimistic.  Perhaps I was wrong in thinking that 2008 was impossible for CD.  Time, as always, will tell!

I don't know if Del has been asked about Best Buy..

It would be awesome if it was a brand new song we haven't heard yet coming out, otherwise whatever song it ends up being, its a great outcome for us because it shows GNR are surely ready to let the album go, and at the same time its a final, polished version of whatever song it ends up being, compared to the different rough mixes/edits circulating on the internet..

You beat me to it.  I say Rhiad would be best fit from the material they've shown us (live)...of course a new song is a possibility.  Even if it is an old song, it is still product placement - obviously a concerted marketing plan has begun.  I really think a big announcement MUST be coming this week.

I work for best buy, and got a phone call very, very early yesterday morning from a nice coworker who was there, exciting times are afoot....expect an announcement very soon. Our guys get back from the Media kickoff this weekend, and I don't think they will be able to  keep info under wraps.

If the Nov. 25th date is still in play, you'd have to expect an announcement real soon.  Axl said it would take about 8 weeks to get an album out once everything is finalized right?  Well, today is September 25th, exactly 8 weeks prior to 11/25.

Yes, there are some more details, but its all confidential to the company and I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to know, so for the sake of my job and his, I'm keeping what I heard quiet until an official announcement. All anyone needs to know is that now is the time to be excited.
