Here Today...and every bloody day

« on: September 24, 2008, 02:35:47 AM »

I was flicking through 40G of music that I have just aquired and I found a band called 'Against Me' they are a punk band from florida apparently.
They have released an album called 'Reinventing Axl Rose' in 2001-02

Does anyone know anything about this album, about any possible responce/comments from Axl or GNR.

For the record I listened to it and didn't think much of the song or album.
'Baby I am an anarchist' is not bad though.

Well the wikipedia article says this about the inspiration for the title:
"The album's cryptic title is in reference to the growing culture of corporate rock, and more specifically the "comeback" concerts canceled in 2001 by Guns N' Roses lead singer Axl Rose. "

A response from GNR regarding this album is irrelevant because this band Against Me are irrelevant.

Yeah, I always knew with a bunch of pretensious, indie fucks like them, the album title was a piss take, not a tribute; so fuck them.  Axl Rose > "Against Me"

Right. But anyone who wants to give respect to Axl wouldn't do it through a lame album title.
Let your music do the talking.
Otherwise, I suppose its a good way to get some attention and 'controversy' for your band, especially when your music isn't up to quality.
That's why I hate these "indie" bands who think they are icons 'rebelling' against corporate rock or whatever rubbish like that.

Pretty good band. Worth checking out if you're into dirty folk punk with feel.
