I liked Christina Aguilera doing Live With Me with the Stones so something along those lines would be cool.

PATTI SMITH!!!!!!!!!!!  peace

Good call!

Maybe the only one I'd be interested in hearing. Only if both of them can recapture their reckless side again though.

Definetly... most of the women mentioned here are pop artist... I would like to hear some old school kick ass duet. Patti Smith's "Twelve" is one of the best covers album that I remember (with TSI? of course  Wink) Their version of Rolling Stones of Gimme Shelter kick many asses... I would love hearing Axl n' Patti alive singin' Gimme Shelter... that could turn my skin into a chicken one  hihi

When I first saw the topic, I didn't like the idea of a duet with any female singer, but you have sold me!
Patti Smith and Axl covering the Stones, tough to find a problem with that.

Because some people dont' take time out to see if topics have been previously posted, I do believe I saw this mentioned in the board rules Huh Plenty is happening. Where have you been on a slow boat to China?

I did search and I didn't fine a thread dedicated to this topic... one mentioned a female gunner, but it was from like 4 years ago... why bring back a 4yr old thread?  People might have some different opinions now and perhaps there are now new singers that weren't around back then.

Anyway I like the Pattie Smith, Christina Aguelera (sp?), Cyndi Lauper, & Alanis mentions... any of those could depending on the style of the song.  Tongue

In order of preference:

1) Tori Amos -- would be incredible, especially if Tori played piano on the track
2) Fiona Apple --  amazing potential, as others have mentioned
3) Corin Tucker (Sleater-Kinney) -- opened for Pearl Jam, would make an interesting counter to Axl
4) Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil) -- strong female metal vocalist but has already sang on a Megadeth track
5) PJ Harvey -- another indie rock fave, could be intriguing
6) Nikki Monninger (Silversun Pickups) -- solid hard-rock vocalist
7) Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy) -- in a word ... petrifying

Fair enough; we "have" SR through RB2 but I expected an official word. My "NOTHING HAPPENS" is actually adressed to all the non-topic-posters. I've waited a decade and I can wait a bit longer (and I think something will happen this fall / winter)

Wasn't it rumored a few years ago that Sarah Brightman did some recording with GN'R.  Possibly for The General.  Did this ever get debunked??

I dont remember the exact source.  This thread jarred the memory, but I remember it started after the 02 tour "finished".   Would be cool though.  She has an amazing vocal range.

Fellow Lafayette native, Amanda Overmyer.

I went to see her at the Lafayette Theater Friday night and she covered Mr. Brownstone.  It absolutely rocked!  Their voices would gel together.

I always thought the singer from 4 Non Blondes, Linda Perry had a similar vocal style to Axl. I can totally imagine Axl doing a great version of Whats Up with her, listen to the track... it's a song Axl could sing amazingly, especially those screaming parts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiDpMfEeo3Q
