Here Today...

« on: September 15, 2008, 08:57:47 PM »

Guns N' Roses now have two different styles of music they are producing, but have only officially released one style.

With Oh, My God and now Shackler's Revenge, GN'R has put out two industrial sounding powerful songs.  Both are hard hitting, feature some classic Axl screams, and are around 3:30 minutes long.  They are good, but not very universal.  You either like industrial sounding music or don't.  Or you like GN'R no matter what.

Oh the other hand, GN'R has played songs like Better, IRS, and Chinese Democracy live.  All are very modern rock sounding.  Better IMO is the most universal sounding.  With Chinese Democracy being that quick hitting rock song.  And IRS being that grinding rock beat.  In the same mold you have the TWAT, The Blues, and Madagascar.  TWAT combining powerful ballad lyrics with killer epic solos.

So what I am saying hear is that Shackler and OMG are very different from the latter songs, but GN'R thought that these songs are best to release.  I'm not complaining.  I'm all for anything official GN'R releases, but my question is this:  What do they want their music image to be?  They have hard hitting industrial music and great new rock music.  To me Axl would like the GN'R image to be more industrial sounding, but yet they have created great new rock music.

All in all, it's a very versatile band with a wide range of music.  Can't imagine what a current run of new official music could sound like.

yeah i like it too, i wish my fucking computer would work or that youtube would shit out that thing thats up its ass that everytime something is posted it gets deleted so i could hear SR more than one time.

thats right i've only heard it once. So now i really can't wait until one of my friends gets rockband2 so that i can play it and listen to it headbanger i even went to a bestbuy today and they didn't even have it set up Sad i was sad Cry

i fully agree with your post, it is awesome to see how much the band has grown from the i don't give a fuck atitude to the perfectionistic Axl we know today, its just so different from what we've known. Also, on a side note, i know there was a post a while back about this movie called "Max Payne". I saw it advertise today and thought of G'n'R. Was there anymore said about there being a song in there from CHINESE DEMOCRACY? Because as it was advertising there was a slow hard, cool ass beat in the background playing and it made me think. I thought i'd just ask here instead of starting a knew topic.

peace

GNR will always be remembered as one of the all time great rock n roll bands. It doesn't matter what Axl wants GNR's image to be. He doesn't have a say. It was set 15 years ago, and nothing he does in the future will ever change it. The only thing he can do now, is build upon, or tarnish his own legacy.

maybe the band isn't worried about what genre they want to be confined to. instead they're more interested in music that they're proud of no matter what boundaries they cross

Thanks 2 those who went 2 Mustang Harry's on May 12th. That made my first concert experience something I'll never forget. Never did I feel like I fit in anywhere as much as I did amongst you strangers

Sometimes people forget about the old days. When GnR first came out, people either loved them or loathed them. I think it won't change much when this album comes out.
