I like Fortus alot but to me this type of stuff devalues the newer members of GNR.

It's just session work to keep busy.  No different than doing that for N' Sync or Daughtry or whoever.

Oh I know what you're saying, I just don't like it.

It wasn't ok in Axl's eyes for Slash to work with Michael Jackson but it's ok for Fortus to play with Rihanna on the VMAs?

It wasn't o.k. in Axl's eyes for Slash to play with Michael Jackson?  I know he joked about it afterwards, but I thought his problem wasn't with that.  It was that Slash was doing that instead of working with him to help GN'R evolve and grow.

It is a job... just like Slash did with Paulina Rubio... in 2008 if you want to have 3 singles on mtv you have to help another artist... business are business.

Pathetic Huh that's funny I mean you seem to act like richard was a Nsync member literally  rofl let me break it down for ya a session player which is what Richard was doing before joining GnR and still doing it today is where you place down parts to diffrent tracks.  Ok ? so richard worked with Rhianna who I say is one of the few who makes good creative music today and is a respected artist.  Richard could go lay down guitar parts for john tesh if all I care.

I think the proper quote was something like wanting Slash to be the biggest and most respected guitar player in the world and something like how it screwed up Slash's image playing with those guys. the article is on this website.

Jimmy page had been a busy session musician before he made it with yardbirds and then zep. not after tho. I'm sure he owes the success to his hired gun days.

and no this type of stuff doesn't devalue richard either.

It doesn't devalue him because no one at the VMA's or watching at home even knows he is in Guns N Roses. So it really doesn't matter.

Rihanna is cool anyway, so that doesn't matter.

That was different because Slash was playing a GN'R song with Fergie.  Richard was playing on of Rihanna's songs with Rihanna.

I didn't like when Slash played with Paulina Rubio or Martha Sanchez too... but that just my way of thinkin... I don't like when people just can eat shit if someone pay a bunch of dollars to do it... just an opinion... i understand that is a job and he just play for money... that's OK... I think that Fortus is a good musician that did really good stuff in the past n' in the present N' also don't think that he needs the money to pay his house...
Also as I said maybe just like to do it or the music of those artist and that's ok too... (even when I don't like it)
No problem just opinion...  ok

That was different because Slash was playing a GN'R song with Fergie.  Richard was playing on of Rihanna's songs with Rihanna.

Ali

and Richard was in the background, only the hardcore fans recognized him. He wasnt promoted at all.

Slash was center stage all eyes on him. He was clearly promoting himself and seeking the spotlight.

    Hey Richard!

I think you are definitaly one of the best guitar players, if not the
    best, GNR had

    But now my question
Did you perform with Rihanna at the MTV VMA's?
I thought i've seen you playing your black beauty, at least it was
    someone looking like you^^

    Rock on dude!
