South Park vs. Family Guy

Family guy doesn't make sense some times. With South park, at least they tell a story and don't throw really stupid crap in there that doesn't belong. And there are always subtle jokes in South Park that you have to pay close attention to which Family guys is really obvious. Family guy goes way off the reservation IMO.

South Park is still king in my books. Hands down.

It's a really tough question since the shows are so different... In Monty Python kind of way SP has nothing on FG, but when we're talking about scripted politically critical comedy it's SP (apart from last season). I really enjoy them both..

Only recently discovered FG, and it's funny as hell, but has a long road to insult/poke fun at everyone SP has touched - hell, SP even nailed FG - the manatee writers.  My favorite SP episode:  Santa captured by Sadam Hussein, Jesus to the rescue!  How high these writers must be...

South park owns Family Guy.  Family Guy is just the lamest show, and that episode of SP where they mock it couldn't be more true.  Although south park I think has been going downhill since season 8, there has been some good episodes though like the Batdad one!

Simpsons.

The Simpsons is head and shoulders above both shows.  South Park and Family Guy both have such a heavy reliance on vulgarity, crudeness and being blunt about things... which I am cool with and I watch these shows all the time, but when the Simpsons is ON, it is way more creative than either show could ever hope to be.  All three shows are fairly hit-or-miss these days, The Simpsons just gets ragged on the hardest because it was non-stop hits for 10 seasons.

I know this isn't what the thread is about... but seriously, South Park and Family Guy, come back when you have a brain cell to call your own....

Prime for Prime - Family Guy - they killed the show at the height of its hilarity and when they brought it back, a lot of the writers had moved on.  The new episodes are occasionally great but overall aren't even close to the first 3 seasons

Longevity - South Park, Stone and Parker have been there forever and have been the main forces behind the show, and even though they have some stinkers they're still more consistent than FG overall

But Family Guy at its' peak was the most hilarious TV show I've ever witnessed

The Simpsons at its peak combined the best of both shows:  consistently hilarious.  But since about 2000 the show has pretty much sucked with occasional exceptions
