This guy probably means the chemicals they put in foods, or this biotech crap.
And what exactly ARE they putting in our water?
Oh no! I'm having flashbacks to Polluxlm's posting that the first fluoridated water was used by the Nazis on the Warsaw ghettos or something like that!
Chlorine to kill dangerous bacteria, and fluoride to make sure we Americans don't end up with British teeth! (that's a joke btw, think Austin Powers)
btw, I don't think fruits and vegetables have steroids or hormones...perhaps you meant the harmless use of genetically altered fruits/veggies?
I don't see why food needs to be genetically altered.

ya the thing that has me most convinced about people balding younger is:
I would say that 90% of the people I know that are around 21-25, have dads with better heads of hair than them. I know people are gunna say that its just coincidence but it seems very odd that all these 50+ year olds generally seem to have more hair than todays young adults.
Im convinced something is causing this and personally blame all the crap they put in foods nowadays among other things.
Is it real or is it Memorex? Can you prove the fathers aren't using unnatural means to sport their thick quaffs? If you're in an upper-middle to high class area, that might be the case.
Well I have the same hair as my dad, super thick and straight, and I know for a fact that his is all natural. Hes the least vain human being Ive ever met and his brother and dad both have the exact same hair.
He is 60 years old and his hair is 100X better than many of my friends hair. I know what your saying though and it is a possibility with some of the other dads.
Also about the fruits/vegetables, I was just guessing. Im glad to hear they arent messing with them too much cuz they make up about 75% of my diet.

well, if it lets you plant a field that uses 90% less pesticides without losing your harvest, that's pretty damn cool. By slightly altering the genetic makeup, you can increase resistance to pests, plant diseases, and make the taste/size even better. this can keep prices down...it really is win-win.
a lot of times when I hear the whole, "God didn't want us eating genetically altered food" story, I reply with the fact I wasn't meant to read because I have to wear corrective lenses.

Got milk? How about, got cancer? Got a sick prostate and you're looking for answers?
Sure, for
them
it is a win win. Where do you think all this cancer is coming from? What is it now, 1 in 2 that gets it? So not only do you increase sales, but by making your customers sick you can stand down the line offering 300k "treatments".
I'm all for technological improvements, but I think we're moving a little fast here.

Like I said, the nazi prison camps. That should raise a big red flag.
Not to mention the 700 million Europeans going "what the fuck are you guys doing over there?".
You know what Fluoride is? Aluminum waste. Keeps you docile.

I like to keep things natural.
Call me a crazy California boy, but I don't think it's such a crazy notion.
Next we'll be ditching food altogether and living off pills.

Soilent Green is people!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey man, all-natural is great, but rather expensive. How much are you willing to pay in a mark-up to get organic?
...and polluxlm, how are the dairy farmers profiting off of prostate cancer treatments? Do you have area dairy farmers performing chemo and radiation treatments?
we live in a developed world where people are living longer lives. Guess what, if every person lives long enough, they will get cancer. We are seeing rising cancer rates due to improved life expectancy thanks to modern medicine. Granted, the obesity epidemic isn't bringing cancer numbers down, in fact it's doing the opposite.
That said, I agree that going organic, all-natural, and avoiding processed foods is a good thing...it's just not a realistic alternative for a lot of folks out there. When folks are scraping by financially, they see a 75 cent apple sitting next to an 89 cent box of Little Debbie's snack cakes. One of them can be part of a kid's lunch for a whole week, the other for just one day.

No, but the guy in the grey suit writing the check for Danone does.
So what, you get old? You should die from wear n' tear, not mutations.
The 'health' industry is massive. So massive that if people stopped getting sick you'd be out of a job tomorrow. Same goes with the arms industry. The entire economy is built on platforms with an expected output. One being an increasing number of deaths and destruction, each fiscal year.
When you have a 'free' system of enterprise in a global structure, you in the long run promote psychopaths to the leading positions. Think about it, who is a board of old, rich men going to appoint? The nice guy that wants to help the customer, or the asshole with black numbers on dividend day?
Lies, deceit, propaganda, war... prominent attributes of modern politics. These guys love to prey on our weaknesses. Not so much because they're 'evil', but because it works. Suffering and fear are simply more powerful incentives for you to give up your money than any peace time enterprise could ever offer. If we don't waste our money, this surplus of the economy, we would eventually amass enough resources to overthrow the current owners of the economy. In the words of Mr. Jensen;
ebb and flow
Kinda sad. As you say it could be used to do so much good.
Sorry about going into all of this. At this point the thread demanded it.

dont worry 99% of the poeple in this thread are smart enough to understand that
Just like 99% are smart enough to realize that people don't go to school for years and years to become a dermatologist so they can cut and colour hair

? are you...speaking...words?
Im really not sure what your trying to say, but after reading your posts over you dont seem to understand the difference between a
hair stylist/dresser
and a
dermatologist/specialist
hair dresser/stylist
: they go to beauty school where they learn shit like how to cut and style hair, what hair styles work with certain face shapes, the most fashionable hairstyles of todays youth etc etc....bullshit like that
dermatologists/specialists
: they go to medical school where they learn about the medical/scientific side of hair like what is hair, what makes hair grow, scalp conditions, what causes MPB, methods of treating hair loss, conditions that cause hair loss etc etc
I personally trust the dermatologists/specialists when they say hats don't cause hair loss over the ditsy blond that cuts my hair
EDIT: but fuck it let this thread die please its been derailed

The skin is the largest organ of the body and is the most visible. Although many skin diseases are isolated, some are manifestations of internal disease. Hence, a dermatologist is schooled in aspects of surgery, rheumatology (many rheumatic diseases can feature skin symptoms and signs), immunology, neurology (the "neurocuteaneous syndromes", such as neurofibromatosis and tuberous sclerosis), infectious diseases and endocrinology. The study of genetics is also becoming increasingly important.
Techniques available to a dermatologic surgeon include lasers, traditional scalpel surgery, electrosurgery, cryosurgery, photodynamic therapy, liposuction, blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), minimally-invasive facelift surgery (e.g., the S-lift), and a variety of topical and injectable agents such as dermal fillers including fat transfer and hyaluronic acid. Some specially trained dermatologic surgeons perform Mohs surgery, which can be an effective method for the treatment of recurrent, indistinct, or difficult skin cancers.

I agree with that hat thing. Case in point, all the jewish men that wear yarmulkes seem to develop bald spots on their crown.
