Jarmo I get what you are saying . all I am saying is that this guy shouldn't have been the only guy to get into some trouble . they should have gone after the other too.  If they had back then , then maybe they wouldn';t have to now.

THE GUY HAD 9 TRACKS FROM THE FORTHCOMING ALBUM CHINESE DEMOCRACY !!! and uploaded them to his computer THAT IS STEALING THE ALBUM ISN'T RELEASED YET SO PUTTING UP TRACKS THAT R NOT OFFICALLY RELEASED IS CALLED STEALING.  JUST LIKE IF BACK IN 1991 I WENT AND SAW T2 AND BROUGHT MY CAMERA IN AND RECORED IT AND THEN WENT OUT BACK AND SOLD IT ON THE SIDEWALK !! YOU CAN'T DO THAT ITS AGAINST THE LAW now I hope everyone will be quiet now that I used caps to get the damn point across.

UM THAT IS DIFFERENT THAT GUY SOLD THE SHIT....

Gunsguy

yeah your right he didn't make money off it !  but his website got so many hits the server crashed.  Guns N' Roses has been good to us why leak something that is gonna spoil the return of everyone's favorite band.

have you heard the leaks?

Didn't GNr the last time they toured play the leaks live?

Yeah I actually went to a concert in 2006 IN EVERETT WA Everett Events Center and paid over 200 bucks and bought a T-Shirt like a real fan would do.  It was the greatest night in my life watching Axl from 7 rows back in the pit and seeing Richard and Robin especially its moments like those that make me proud of THIS BAND and THERE HARD WORK !!! not some idiot who post 9 songs from a ALBUM i've been waiting for ALONG TIME.  IT REALLY RUINED IT FOR ME NOW THAT I've HEARD OVER HALF THE SONGS ON THE ALBUM so much for a SURPRISE.  NOW IF PEOPLE DIDN'T LEAK SHIT WE WOULDN'T BE IN THIS THREAD NOW WOULD WE !!!

so then why go after the "little guy" ?

I'm gonna try to be nice.

What part of "he uploaded nine track to his web site and broke copyright law in a time when the album is about to get released" didn't you understand?

Rolling Stone didn't upload it to their web server!

Eddie Trunk didn't upload it to his site. He didn't have NINE (9) track from the forthcoming album on his site for HOURS for all to download.

Still you ask: Why are these things different?

I see you're blaming Axl. I wonder why since none of the news stories have mentioned him.

They mention the FBI and RIAA. See, there's no Axl in there.

/jarmo

Than Axl should say he doesn't agree with this...  All this guy did was link all tracks together, so what is the crime?  is leaking one track a crime? 2 ?  5?  whats the magic number to get arrested and charged?

Dude you going to a how and spending money does not make you king anything, I have done the same since 87' with this band, bought all the albums, all singles, every magazine, collected many GNR things for years, I have supported this band and every time they come around with or without an album I go I am not disputing we like them.  If people didn't leak shit we wouldn't be in this thread?  If people didn't leak shit we wouldn't be here,   come on after 10+ years we would have found something else to do...

btw I do regualry post at mygnr, but I am not here to start shit I am just trying to get my point across about an issue that is important to me and to all of you....

The band is gonna let the authorities deal with this.

All this guy did was link all tracks together, so what is the crime?

Was it songs he owned the copyright for?

Are you familiar with the term copyright at all?

Sorry if that offends you, I'm just a bit confused by what you're saying.

is leaking one track a crime? 2 ?  5?  whats the magic number to get arrested and charged?

I bet one is enough.

But you have to start somewhere.

In this case, the big fish. Nine songs on his own web site.

Prince would have done had these leakers in Guantanamo bay and everybody who heard the leaks too.

I don't want to heare from Axl I think this just will distracted him and management from getting the album out.  Let the Label and Riaa deal with this shit.l

why is that the charges?

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2008/0827082gnr1.html

and..

The U.S.A. requested bail be set at $50,000. Skwerl?s court-appointed attorney thankfully called B.S. on that one and recommended his bail be $5,000 and that this case is the kind of case where the defendant should have been summoned to appear instead of being accosted by five F.B.I. agents at his home in a quiet neighborhood.

Interestingly, the Judge chimed in to add that he had actually recommended that it be a summons case and wasn?t sure why it went down as it did.

My guess he had some sources that he got the tracks from I don't know Huh it makes perfect sense in the fact that he stole those from universal and that's why the label and RIAA arrested him.

I think the charges has to do with him breaking copyright laws.

If you read those documents, you'll see how they put the puzzle together.

agreed actually he made it too easy for them, I dont agree with it, and good thing the judge already doesn't think they did the right thing, this case will be thrown out based on unlawfull arrest I think, any good lawyer would play on that well...

downloading as in leaking is like still wearing a top hat and playing the same riffs.  Everyone is gonna get tired of it sooner or later and it does not help Guns N' Roses or universal or mangement or the band members in putting out this album THAT US FANS have been waiting for along time.

Well I read alot about claims of "stealing" stealing something is different than this cleary, if I steal something its no longer there...

anyway I dont see where you said you havent downloaded anything, I would assume you have like the other 100% forum members, that in itself is a crime according to your logic.  My question is if its true it is a crime, are they going to charge everyone?  Or is this guy just a scapegoat.

Gunsguy

Then you haven't read the thread. Not all of us have downloaded the leaks.

The affidavit explains it all.  Kevin producing a signed confession makes the FBI's case solid.

The FBI will probably make his penalty less severe if he agrees to give information on, and later testifies against, whomever provided him with the songs.
