Who?

« on: August 07, 2008, 06:01:36 AM »

Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are reportedly in talks to star in Lethal Weapon 5.

Shane Black, who wrote the original movie, has penned a spec script for a fifth instalment, according to Hollywood tracking board TrackingB.com.

The new story sees homicide cop Riggs (Gibson), who is about to quit the LAPD, drag Murtaugh (Glover) out of retirement to solve one final case.

The two leads are said to be interested in reprising their roles, although no deals have been signed.

The first four films in the action franchise were released between 1987 and 1998.

I was watching the 4th one yesterday and I thought they ended the films perfectly, I'm a really big fan of them, and if they could do it justice I'd like it but I'm not to sure.  Rocky VI and Die Hard 4.0 though managed to be good films years after their respective franchises had seemingly died...

At some point, we really do have to say that Danny Glover is too old for this shit!

Shit these guys.

Clint Eastwood is doing another Dirty Harry.

If only Eddie Murphy could pull the pole out of his ass and go back to his original stuff and do a Beverly Hills Cop 4.  I could go for a final Axel Foley bow.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

that time was 1987....

The film will work if they avoid making it ''modern'' - avoid the Die hard 4 approach (ohh a car can be hacked into via the internet......ORLY?)

If its pure 80's nonsense they could have a great film on their hands

It's bit of a shame how each and every sequel to leathal weapon has marked a steady increase of  pie-to-face-ha-ha-ha - humor.
If 5th keeps running to same direction as other sequels, you could just aswell watch Carrey's pet detective instead of it, and  proly have more laughs too.
Original script writer is ofc a good sign tho

Indeed the law of diminising returns might just have been created to describe Leathel Weapon films, each one is slightly worse than the one before - usually with enough sequals one manages to improve on the predecessor - but not this series

I do love the Lethal Weapon series, but you have to wonder, is there any creativity left in the world? Sequels to movies, remixes of old songs, same fucking video games...noone's willing to take a chance anymore.

Movies based on comic book characters, movies based on books... the list goes on. When was the last time you saw a great movie with an original screenplay?
