I think thats unfair to be honest. He should be given the option of losing the money but no changes. Thats just as fair if you read the rules.

The "Rule" was simply brought up so if someone is absent from the game, then the change can be made without them, the fact remains, you win someone you are stuck with them.  So if for some reason your team has a 5th member that can't be dropped, then you lose the 4th.  You can't get out of this bid.

You're the boss, but i think thats harsh! i think the money and team is that of the individual and if someone wants to spend money and then not pick someone up then it their choice. If not this game it should be discussed for the future.

Not really, people should think before they bid for someone.  If we had that rule, people with seemingly perfect teams would get in on all kinds of bidding wars, realising worst case scenario all they lose is some money (And if your team is near perfect, what's the worry then?).  It's simple, if you want a wrestler, you bid for them, if you don't, then do not waste your time bidding for them and if you engage in a game of chicken, be prepared for the consequences.
