Ripped off by a roofer!

Son of a bitch!  No, it wasn't a ton of money.  No, it wasn't a huge job, it's the principle of the matter.  Let me vent! 

it started leaking with the first rain a week later.  My wife is kicking herself because she was there when he did the job.  He went up with a shiny new pipe collar, and came down with...yep, a shiny new pipe collar, but she didn't say anything.

We got a real roofer here today and I feel better already. The one guy on the roof said all the other guy did was tie some rubber around the old one and dump tar on it.  Mother fucker!

I am reporting his ass to the Better Business Bureau.  Damn that pisses me off.

Back in 2004 I paid $400 for someone to put different color shingles on my roof after Hurricane Francis - there were NO shingles locally available and no roofing companies around hardly. It was either that or wait till the next rain & lose the ceiling.

But I did end up getting a whole new roof covered by insurance after Hurricane Jeane came thru 

Yeah you have to be careful with roofers- a lot of peole really got burned for a lot worse than I did  back then- heard stories of roofers taking 50 % deposits for complete roofing jobs and disappearing with the cash.

A few years ago we had our roof re-done by supposedly the "top" roofer in the county.  13k and a year later and guess what?

It leaks again!

You really have to be careful with contractors and get a few estimates and referrals if you can before you get work done.

S Guns, $100 to pop on a new pipe collar.  I've seen it done on youtube, but I didn't want to screw anything up so I went with somebody a co-worker referred.  The fucker didn't even replace the 15-year old collar like he told us he would.  He just put some rubber around the top, and poured roofing tar all over it!  The new roofer suggested we take pics, it really was a disgrace.

On this note, I wasn't home, my wife was.  Sexism exists.  I swear to God, if I was there, he wouldn't have pulled that crap. 
My wife was joking about RichardNixon's HTGTH poll, about being the opposite sex, she'd go get the car serviced, the house repaired, etc. and not get ripped off.     She's kicking herself because she didn't call him out on why he came off the roof with a shiny new pipe collar. 

Good news, I'm gonna take this f'er to court.  Small claims, but it's the principle.  He said he'd send us a refund check earlier this week...if it doesn't arrive, I'm looking forward to small claims court.  I'll keep ya'll posted.

Dude, that blows.  What a piece of shit.  What a lazy fuck.  That boils my blood just hearing that.  Yes, I agree, he saw your wife and was like, "she won't question shit, the dumb bitch doesn't know the difference".... Sorry man.  If he pays you, I would be shocked, yet have respect for him knowing he did wrong and at least paying you back.  History says he won't pay.  I hope he shocks me.

^ S Guns, thanks for the support.  We just composed a really nice demand letter.  One copy will be sent via certified mail, and one by regular mail to the deadbeat roof guy.  The letter to the state attorney general is in the works, and will be complete tomorrow.  The Better Business Bureau has our report.  I believe we also sent a letter to the FTC..they can't do anything, but they use gather the info. on matters like this.

Bottom line, if he doesn't pay up, he'll be liable for damages exceeding the charge of fixing the roof.

There is justice!...I hope. 

We have all communication dates and times documented...the fucker even told my wife over the phone on Wednesday he'd send the check to us...after I left a nice info.-laiden message on his voice-mail earlier that day. 

He fucked with the wrong guy...I feel like Axl right now, gonna call the president, private eye, irs, fbi!!
