Chicago Hot Spots

I am planning a trip to Chicago next month.  I am looking for advice from those that are familiar with Chicago.  I have been there several times on business and looking to see some new things on my trip. 

Areas of interest include:

Best restaurants (I like Gibsons and have been there a couple times)

Must see places in Chicago or things to do

Where do celebrities frequent when they are in Chicago?

Best area to stay downtown (I assume Michigan Mile?)

Any other tips/advice......

Deep Dish Pizza, Italian Beef Sandwich and a Chicago Dog should be on your food list!

I went to one of the suburbs of Chicago last year on business, but never went into the city....

as for Pizza , there is so much good stuff but make sure you try Lou Malnati's and Giordano's and a smaller place called Dominics..

There are so many great places to eat.  Honestly, when I visit I just pick a place and go, and I've never really had bad food. 

If you want to stay somewhere nice, the Palmer House is a fantastic hotel in downtown.


If you stay in the city, you're looking at $150/night for something like a Best Western/Days Inn.  Palmer costs considerably more, but it's a nice place to stay.

And no summer time trip to Chicago is complete without visiting the world's largest church:

I'm going to Chicago in a few weeks for a couple White vs. Red Sox games.  The Cards will be playing the Cubs while we're out there.  That'd be sweet to see, not sure how tough a ticket that'll be to get though considering that's a huge rivalry.

You can get the tix easy enough, from brokers and scalpers, but they'll cost ya.  Best bet would be ebay, if you want to know exactly what you're getting.

Yeah I'm guessing it'd be a better idea to try and get them online instead of in person there.  Probably save some money that way.  I think one of the days we have tickets for a night game for the Chi/BoSox, and the Cubs/Cards play a day game.  Nice little cross town day/night double header would fit in nicely.  Of course with the amount of alcohol that is sure to be consumed during such an event I'm not too sure how clear my state of mind would be for the night game.
