Surely our British members know of and hopefully love these guys - still ONE of the best bands that I've ever heard in my life, and it's a shame that they were never huge in the U.S. - as they should have been.
Amazing riffs, amazing hooks, amazing lyrics - amazing EVERYTHING. Ginger is a legend as far as I'm concerned.
Most of their b-sides and throw away tracks are better than most bands' a-sides, especially in today's rock scene. The amount of releases that these guys throw out there full of quality material is just mind-boggling. There's STILL stuff that I'm collecting because of some of it is just so hard to find. Going to pick up the new covers album once I get my credit cards paid off.
Any Americans who have never heard of these guys NEED to check them out one way or another - Ginger won't mind, really.

Right up there with Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction as "under the radar" bands for me..

If you mean "didn't take themselves too seriously" by "parody" then yes.
Mark Manning (aka Zodiac Mindwarp) is quite a character. An accomplished author as well, two of his books - "Fucked by Rock" and "Collateral Damage" are two of the best music related books I've ever read.
Check out his current project, ZodiacYouth if you get a chance..

He wasn't happy with Ian when The Cult hired then Mindwarp bass player Kid Chaos (aka Haggis, real name Stephen Harris) as touring bassist for the "Electric" world tour but has eased up on that stance since. Manning has an aquired writing style, draws a fine line between sarcasm and seriousness leaving the reader to draw his own conclusions with a major
emphasis being played on not taking anything too serious.
His current project mentioned above (ZodiacYouth) involves The Cult's latest producer Martin Glover (aka Youth) who took the helm of 2007's "Born Into This".
As an aside, here's a link to what The Kid has been up to since leaving the rock life...

I saw them open for The Darkness in support of "The Wildhearts Must Be Destroyed!" here in the U.S., and their live show was great...to the point that I bought the album *at* the show, something I rarely, if ever, do. My knowledge is limited to that one record, though.

Do yourself a favor and buy "Earth Vs. The Wildhearts" - your ears will thank you.

I love them, one of my fave bands (thanks to Chris M.)!
"Long-running UK rockers THE WILDHEARTS will perform a third concert to celebrate the 15-year anniversary of the release of the "Earth Vs The Wildhearts" album. In addition to the previously announced September 20 show at Shepherds Bush Empire in London and the November 23 gig at Akasaka Britz in Tokyo, Japan, the band will play Tavastia in Helsinki, Finland on Friday, September 19. All three gigs will feature "Earth Vs..." performed live in its entirety along with all of the B-sides from that era."
And i just bought my tickets to Tavastia! Whoop!
