Ideas to mark an album release...

Things seem to be moving along nicely now, with promising signs of life from the band and all the noises you would expect of an imminent album release.
My question to you lot, is what you think is a fitting way to mark the release of the album, by the fans? Perhaps, when the time comes, we could arrange a big fuck-off listening party in each continent? Do you think the band could do something that we could somehow get involved with? - if so, what? Is there a way we can offer positive help?
We've all been on a symbiotic journey with the band, and each other, towards the release of this album. Some have been lost along the way, and others have come aboard, but despite minor squabbling I'm sure we all really want the same thing - Gn'R back in the limelight with new material to show what they can do

I'd be well up for a listening party in London, if it can be organised. Must have incredible sound system.
Perhaps GNR could find some $ in their marketing budget to help us along...

I think Leddy is wanting to show off his new drumsticks (that is if he has received them).

Personally I'd like Guns to perform at the VMAs and after the perfomance Axl goes: "Round 2! Knockout!". Then reveal a release date.
"Round One"
might be the coolest phrase ever muttered in rock history.

I am currently in negotiations over the release of my drumstick
It would be cool if Gn'R could do something like the advance screenings movie critics get, but for the fans. Someway there could a shared experience for us to go somewhere to hear the album before anyone else. They could set up airport style security doorways at the entrance

How about helping the sales of the album by buying it for everyone you know? I always said I would do something like that. In fact, I'm thinking of buying at least one copy for each year I have been waiting...

Yep. Good idea. Glad to hear other people are doing the same. I'm buying 3 extra albums to give to friends.

I am for all those idea's.
listening party somewhere with a select few people would be really cool. Like a meet and greet but more personal.
And of course I will be buying several copies!
And I too think the VMA'S is the perfect place to make the anouncement. Its free and it goes out to millions and other media will be there.
This has been such a long time coming there should be some special things that take place.
Maybe a few randoms cd's sold could contain a free gift. Such as an Autographed time or a free trip and a show.
Of course everyone would love to see Axl do a full tv interview to support the release.
Boy I have been here a long and finally we can smile again. I can't wait for this cd to walk all over the charts!!!
peace out

If a listening party could be organised, maybe there could be a showing of the documentary that was supposedly filmed. An a GNR ROCKBAND Karaoke or something. Then Axl could log onto Youtube, and laugh hysterically at all of us trying to sing Schacklers Revenge. A humorous way for us to celebrate the release with him

Lots of people buy and keep newspapers to mark big news events.
Maybe a 'tabloid' style news paper could be made to celebrate the release, with pictures of the band, forum quotes and of course leddy with his new drumsticks. There has been some great album designs posted on the website over the years, there could be a competition to vote the best and put it in the newspaper

I love Leddy's idea. If that could be arranged it would be awesome. It would show our support and love for the band by attending, and the bands support and love for us by letting us hear the album before anyone else.

metallica did the listening party thing at a stadium before the black album was released. i really don't see gnr doing anything like that though.

There's only one place we can all be together at the same time and that's the trash--lol.
I think if you're a band hell bent on being part of the future, you need have a good command of the net. Any kind of listening party involving the fans needs to be built around that. And you know how we like to know everything, a preview of the song and someone telling some interesting things about it.
And the band members, we babble all the time about what we think, do, feel. What have you guys been up to? Love those on the road we did..........
But you know if something is going to be done over there with Leddy, the band's plane needs to stop here in St. Louis so I can send him the other half of my Dr. Pepper and the rest of the six pack.

Yeah, but who knew back then that it was gonna be a 12 round bout. That performance does give me goosebumps still though. Even with the shakiness at the beginning. Apparently Axl still puts some value in MTV as he agreed to introduce the Killers a few years back, so it may be possible for MTV to squeeze GNR in between Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, and Rhianna.

I think it would be cool to have multiple, exclusive listening parties around the country (LA, Seattle, Vegas, Chicago, Nashville, NYC, Boston, Atlanta, and Miami), and have a sign-up/drawing on GNR.com, you can enter for 1 party only and so many winners will be chosen. Then maybe get a few different fans reactions to the album and some of the songs. Maybe even have the band at one or two of them. I love the idea of having a HUGE release party at maybe Vegas or Chicago (more central), just a big party with the album blaring on repeat, have listening stations set up where people can listen privately. I'd be there...

Have thought for years how cool it would be to set up listening/release parties in a few areas, I'm in London and it wouldnt be hard to find and hire a suitable venue. be great to hear it with so many fans and board members and celebrate the release of this mother!
