The last page of the new issue (August 08) spotlights "Next Month" and shows a picture of Axl with the caption "The rise of GN'R - Welcome to their Jungle."

The text below reads:

YOUNG GUNS - Los Angeles, 1985:  A posse of guitar-toting outlaws starts to claw its way to the top of the sunset strip music scene.  Amid rumors that Axl's new Guns N' Roses may finally deliver the long-awaited Chinese Democracy album, Stephen Davis gives an inside look at the formation of the dirtiest, most dangerous - and greatest - rock band of the modern era.

Obviously, I'm looking forward to the next issue.

This is essentially a preview or excerpt from Stephen Davis' new book, "Watch You Bleed".

No.   Most likely an Illusion-era pic...

just got this from blabbermouth

"Watch You Bleed: The Saga of Guns N' Roses", a new GUNS N' ROSES book that chronicles the remarkable rise of Axl Rose's band, "from their days as a Sunset Strip street gang dealing drugs to AEROSMITH's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry to their eventual coronation as the kings of [sleaze rock]," is scheduled for release on August 26 via Gotham. Playboy magazine is publishing a 10,000-word excerpt in an upcoming issue. "Believe it or not, Playboy's sending a photographer over to shoot me," author Stephen Davis told the Boston Globe. "I just hope they airbrush my nipples."

A Sunset Strip Street Gang!  rofl     Wasn't Duff from Seattle? Slash's mother made costumes for David Bowie...

Looks like this guy wants to cash in on the album release. I wonder how well researched he is!

I don't think that Erin Everly of all people would have "married" a drug dealer. I'm mean she is the daughter of THE Everly Brothers.

Drug dealers don't make it to the top in Rock N' Roll! When would they have time to practice? They prey on those who have made it to the top however, and that is an entirely different story.

USE YOUR ILLUSION is called that for a reason! Man! That's showbiz for ya!  Roll Eyes

Buy Marc Canter's "Reckless Road" and you'll get a good picture of how it was in the early days.

I think it is so lame that these cheap bastards keep writing books about gnr. Damned if I don't buy half of them for my collection. I really hate that!! Anyway I am just sick of people making a buck off of lies, half truths and other peoples work!!!

i recall buying a Playboy, or maybe it was Penthouse in the early nineties as there was an article on Rocket Queen and the story behind the recording of the sex sounds.... buying that mag as a 14 year old girl in a rather small town raised a few eyebrows - i remember having difficulties reaching the top shelf....!!  i DID only buy it for the article!

Amen, sista.

I haven't bought a single one of these books.  Granted, the pics are nice but I have seen them all before and most of the information cannot be trusted.

It doesn't say Axl was a drug dealer.  It's known that Izzy dealt to at least Joe Perry.  I don't know about Steven Tyler though.

I agree too.

I just finished Mick Wall's Axl-bio, and yeah, frustrating read ! The facts are often right but almost everything is told in such a light that it makes Axl look like a winner of Charles Manson-lookalike contest. Mick Wall also thinks that, for example, Del James is a worhtless ass-kisser JUST BECAUSE HE HAS STUCK WITH AXL OVER TWENTY YEARS. Jesus.

Read these books with grain of salt, don't take everything as served..

But the sad part is that I bought them. And I see it with a lot of bands. People want anything they can get their hands on and its sad that we have to buy crap. Oh well its our fault I guess. lol
