which is done by bh's guitar and brain's drums?

Isn't the first sound you hear a synth or something?

I know the wah-wah-wuh-wop-wop-wop is BH's guitar.  (For lack of a better way of explaining it!)

But the part before that sounds like a synth to me.

I'm just trying to break down the parts here.

Seems like putting labels on things is what some people do.

Everything needs to be labeled.

So if something doesn't sounds like it was made with just guitars, bass and drums, it's either techno or industrial. Wink

And it's no different than how all the other songs have been described on the album. We're just currently on Shackler's Revenge.

The reason this song got tabbed "industrial" is because of the pre-chorus.  The dancy, disco-type beat and the vocal melody during that section are the reason.  However, the song in the verses and chorus is not even remotely industrial sounding

However, a lot of people seemed antsy to label anything on the album industrial because of the reports 8-10 years back.  I've actually seen some idiots on other boards say the album sounds more like NIN and Beck than GnR which is one of the most laughable statements I've ever heard, made by people trying to somehow discredit the album.  The only thing I can conclude from those types of statements are that these people have never heard a Beck or NIN album, haven't listened to CD, or both, but just want to criticize and stuff the album into a category based on their negative preconceived notions

So? Tongue

It defintly has a industrial sound to it,-
- and some of the instrumentation used in the sobg is a defining element in the industrual genre.

But it's right, it's not that industrial all in all.

I love the melody, it's very heavy and it also got this rock/pop feel to it. Exellent! peace

the guitars riff is very simple
the drums are rockish and in some part with a disco bear
it almost doesnt have any synths

Should Guns N' Roses make Shacklers Revenge a single ? should they make a video ? discuss your Pro's and Con's.

One of the worst tracks on the album, only a die-hard could see it as single material. Their not getting a no. 1 with this.

"Street Of Dreams" is the opposite of that description, release it.

Intro is a NO

but the song once it gets into it defintely is a single. The Chorus is very catchy

I disagree with SOD also. I think it gets kind of redundant and isn't very powerful.

"Sorry" is the NO BRAINER choice

Too long, too many lyrics to make a radio edit.

Although it would be disappointing, at least with "There Was A Time" they could take a minute off.

maybe 2-3 weeks age me and some friends hung out and shacklers came on, within a minute one guy said "what the fuck is this, change the song" and another friends said "it's new GNR songs, some songs are pretty awesome" i dunno if they know that i'm such a die-hard  Tongue

can't find the quote now but i'm pretty sure axl would not like cutting anything out of the songs for the radio, i think he spoke against it when they did it with some slash solos

if they would edit songs for the radio i'm pretty sure they would have edited the intro to CD

They did, here in the UK. It's starts just before the guitar riff.

I can't imagine many radio stations playing 50 seconds of Chinese whispers before a song starts, unless they did in other countries  Huh.

Disagree completely.  I think it is one of the best songs on the album because it has some very cool, Buckethead-style guitar work, an awesome beat (especially during the bridge), and some fantastic melodies and vocals from Axl.  The catchiness alone warrants some considerations for this song as a single.

Not a huge fan of the song, and despite what some people say it's obviously got a big industrial bent to it. Unfortunately to me its  a little white zombie  meets LA glam metal.

I think if it had been released say 94-97 it would have been really great but to my ears sounds very dated and catch up ish ( as an overall song)

Now thats my negative feelings over what I love.

The beats....those disco ish grooves with those drums are AWESOME Smiley, to me the one thing that let the Illsuions down was Matt Sorums horrible ham fisted overbearing drumming......no groove. CD has all the groove you could ever want from a drummer great stuff, and well on display on Shacklers.

You are nuts.  This is one of the best tracks on the album.  I even have friends that thought that is a great song and they can't stand Guns...
