My absolute favorite part of this song is the crunchy guitar intro before Axl comes in at the beginning.

Favourite part of the whole song,
is that little "pause" at  1:10/1:11  and then it goes into "Ive got a wicked demon..."

thats fucking mad.. Cant wait to see this song live.

Has anybody noticed there is a sound effect on this song that sounds like an elephant? Or am I just going crazy?

one of the best songs on the album.  brain's drumming make this song, and of course buckethead's guitar KILLS!  lyrics are probably about former band members...

Yes, there is.  Forget Cowbell... Chinese Democracy needs More Elephant Noise!

It's all I can hear in the solo now, it stands out like that "don't want to do it" line.

Yes, but it's not really a sound effect, it's just Ron doing wacky things on his fretless

its an amazing rocker.

great guitar playing, great lyrics/vocals and as I've said a million times, the part during the solo that sounds like demons marching out of hell the "OOMPH, OOMPH, OOMPH parts. U don't want to listen to that alone in the dark.

What really made me dislike the song at first was Axl's demonic voice at the beginning of the song. It's not as bad now to me but it's just one of those things you get through and then enjoy the rest of the song.

Anyone else noticed the low Axl parts in the second half of the chorus?

those are VERY noticeable with the Shackler's Revenge split parts from RB2. especially the 'vocals only' track.

The OOMPH OOMPH OOMPH parts remind me of Bad Company's "Rock N' Roll Fantasy."

Awesome rock song! It grew on me after hearing the amazing album version. I love the wide range of Axl's voices, from his low demon voice to high scream. The chorus sounds so smooth and natural and very catchy. It almost sounds like a rattle snake getting ready to strike. Any one know what instrument they use to make that chattering "rattle snake" sound just after the heavy drums?

Definitely will be a rock radio hit!!!!!! Heavy and melodic!!!!!!!!!!

This is the greatest and best song in the world!

« Reply #1994 on: December 13, 2008, 01:45:02 PM »

I haven't read all 100 pages, and wouldn't be surprised if this was mentioned already.  First, I love this song (top 5 on CD), but ever since I read the words in the booklet, the first thing that came to my mind was the Columbine school shootings.  Based on his answers to some questions yesterday, that is at least generally the premise (if not other school shootings).  Pretty heavy song if you view it in that light..

Its probaly one of the best songs on the album, I love Axl's demonic voice ! intresting to hear Axl say what the song was about.  How it had it's ties with VT school shooting.

I think it would be a real cool music video if Axl decided to do it.  Having Mickey Rourke in it would be awesome and I think the song is good enough for a video.

Axl Rose Forever

« Reply #1998 on: December 13, 2008, 02:39:26 PM »

Axl talked about this song being inspired by the senseless school shootings in recent years as well as the groundless accusations against the old band over the song Mr. Brownstone. Something about suicide.

If you ever have problems getting up in the morning, put Shackler's Revenge as your wake up music on your CD clock radio. The intro could wake the fucking dead! You get stabbed in the head four times then Axl says "AHHHHHHH". Brilliant. FUCKING Brilliant. God, this record is such a gift of rock sophistication and inner hope. Thanks Axl.
