No offense to anybody, but I just don't like CD enough to have it kick off the CD. It has always been one of my least favorite.
U have to think of the casual fan. first GNR record in 17 years............. CD is a good song but not the first thing I would want to introduce to people.
Although they did kick off UYI with "Right Next Door To Hell" so i guess it really doesn't matter what the opener is.
I imagine CD being the first track as is typical with title cuts...however since this is Axl's first, he could surprise us. And while I never fully appreciated the song live before I heard the studio cut, I really enjoy it now...much better than Right next door to hell. I don't know what they were thinking with that one! Did they ever even play that one live?
And I think Shackler's will end up on the 2nd half of the cd.

Shackler's was such a shock, I fully expect the track listing to look nothing like we imagine.
SO the opener probably will be something we have never even heard a title of before.

Wait, Right next door to hell is a bad song? That's news to me! That song is a perfect opener! I remember buying the CD and wondering if they were gonna slow down at all, which most bands do, and they answered my question real quick! That song is an ass kicker. Of course the ballads come in not long after, but still, great great album. Chinese Democracy is easily one of Axl's worst lyrical performances, and there is nothing to the song. RNDTH has some spitfire lyrics. I think a bunch of peopel co-wrote it but... And yeah, I have a few bootlegs where GNR opens with it back in the day.

Yeah............... CD is nowhere near WTTJ though.
its grungy and not very poppy whereas WTTJ is a phenomenon that our great great grand kids will hear.
Agreed, but I didn't mean it sounded the same, just that out of all the songs it's an opener vs. not, just like WTTJ.

Well, I mean WTTJ is probably the greatest album opener in music history. I'm sure that can be disputed but not many songs kick off an album ,set the tone, mood and awesomeness of an album quite like Jungle.
Shackler's would be a great opening track.
CD is kind of too grungy and kinda slugs a long. Its not a great way to set the tone for an album in my opinion.

okay I've listened to Shackler's a bunch of times, and the way it opens, those first few notes, every time I hear it I can't help but think of Jim Carey in dumb and dumber when he says "wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?" Just those first few notes.

Freaky song. Very industrial. Not at all what I thought the band would sound like 15 years later. The other leaks were better.

the song is not VERY industrial. I guess you didn't hear Ron's guitar playing then.

I will take a stab just based on what I think from hearing these guys' previous work
Buckethead during the intro/verses (guaranteed)
Robin during the pre-chorus/hook (not positive but sounds like him)
Robin (power chords) and Bucket (whammy bar) during the chorus (pretty sure but not positive)
Ron on the solo (positive)
Buckethead or Ron (probably Bucket) doing the tapping on the outro chorus
Robin on the "classic" sounding solo on the outro chorus (nearly positive)

I wonder how much time am I gonna wait for a lossless/definitive version of this track...
I cant take the chorus out of my mind... my subconscious sings it on its own, and repeats it, and repeats it... I go to sleep thinking about that damn chorus
sticky as hell

Given as nothing is known regarding this album, I'd say (or like to see) the intro of CD (up to the bit where the songs tempo gets going or another version of it, but nonetheless an instrumental) to start the album with the title track in full to finish the album, as it does in the shows.

After some time from the release of Shackler's Revenge on Rock Band we don't have, as Estebanf said, a definitive version or an ITunes release neither news from Gn'R camp or the song on the radios... Do you think that this will be the first single of CD?? Or just somethin' like Civil War on Nobody's Child?

well, i think "shackler" is a nice one. still, i don't think it would be the best single choice (mysteron mentioned the band wants "shackler" as the first single, i think). "better" has more original gnr feel to it, but is more complex too. well, maybe they have got another big gun for first single. but i'd go with "better" from the ones we know... i got "shackler" right after "better" on my i pod. fits very well.

the disco beat during the prechorus reminded me of omg. but its far more catchy. hope it gets more attention than omg as well. anyone heard anything about how the kids dig it?
