It would have been kinda kind of GNR, if they had opted to provide the fanbase  some rational legal way of getting the 1st new GNR song in 10 years when it's released.

It'll happen.   Just remember that this is an exclusivity deal with RB2 right?  So when the time is right it'll happen, but I'd speculate that right now it's Harmonix that sets the calendar here, not GNR.

Isn't the game available all over the world? I bought it and I'm not in America...

Not yet.

North America only.

With the wonders of the internet, how can they stop you?  Other than regional coding on disks (do they have that on XBOX 360?), it would seem the UPS man would be happy to 'break street' for you...

I re-read my post, and had to add this - I am talking about online purchase of the legal game & shipping it overseas...not suggesting anybody do something illegal, stupid, and damaging like downloading...of course I don't know how the UPS man could help with that.

I'm not sure what the "region" status is of RB2...or whether some countries overseas have region-unlocked 360's (something that wouldn't surprise me in the slightest):

But there are literally HUNDREDS of "import" game companies that service the European countries with US games, both PC and console.  They have NO problem shipping overseas....and it's all 100% legal.

but just thought they would introduce us with something a little less drastic of a change from the old stuff.

It's a song in a video game.

Relax a bit.

It's So Easy was the first UK single from AFD.

It definitely wasn't the biggest hit on the album....

Civil War was put on a compilation album. It wasn't the first single from the Use Your Illusion albums......

But it was a B-Side on the single You Could Be Mine ;-)

Wow. I have to say that I FELL IN LOVE with the song after about the 10th listening...

I don't know what to call it other than that Shackler's Revenge has great "pace"... i.e. the drums, the guitars, synth. effects, chorus, etc. just have this menacing relentless cadence to them (like the German Wehrmacht goose-stepping through Berlin or something). Yesterday, I said that the familiar and highly listenable chorus and direct unsophisticated lyrics gave it something of a "Think About You" or "Yesterdays" feel.... and I still feel that way. I didn't fully appreciate the quality of the music though. There's a real "You Could Be Mine" or "Oh My God" reckless abandon to the track as well. A really great blend of sounds- but yet cohesive. I would not be surprised if Shackler's Revenge charts very well some day in the future.

I'm heading back to my buddy's house tonight to hopefully unlock the game tonight. I'm gonna take Pilferk's advice and head back to Empire State Garden and do that 7 Song Challenge. Hopefully that will unlock it.

I like GN'R

« Reply #1712 on: September 16, 2008, 04:35:08 PM »

I'm listening to it on youtube at the moment.  Not sure if this is the final track on Rock Band 2, but the mix is horrible.  Sounds like an interesting tune but I can barely hear Axl among a lot of noise.  Hope this isn't the track actually on the game.  If so, it isn't gonna do much to sway the casual fan back to GN'R Land after the 2002 VMA's and all the other bad publicity that came from that era.

Rock Band is on sale at Amazon UK and Play.com. but not Rock Band 2.

Where did you see RB2 on sale?

"Six things you didn't know about Rock Band 2

...if you want to dig in and really make your personal Rock Band set-up personal and special, we have some more tips for you. We also have some cool tricks and codes to bring you up to speed on how to get the most out of your game. Let's get started by giving you all the songs...
...
You can buy the soundtrack in iTunes, but you'll miss out on a few tracks

Someone has gone to the trouble of creating the Rock Band 2 set list on iTunes, and you can buy the entire thing for $76.23. You can find that iMix on iTunes, but there are some tracks that Apple doesn't have available yet, including the new track by Guns n' Roses and "Let There be Rock" by AC/DC.

Other than the six tracks iTunes is mixing, this is a good way to get that Rock Band 2 feeling when you can't turn the actual game on, or to learn songs so you can become a better singer.

You may be able to buy a musical file with your tracks in the future

The music store on Rock Band 2 is already well-stocked, but when will we be able to buy actual music off the service? I posed this question to Dan Teasdale, Rock Band 2's senior designer. Will it ever be possible to get an .mp3 or some other digital file with our song on it when we buy a track for the game? "We've definitely talked about it," he told me, stressing how difficult it would be. "It's a huge pile of stuff we have to go through. We already have to sort out label rights, band rights, master rights, and this is another thing on top of that... but I'd love to see it happen in the future."

Expect a big surprise in the coming weeks

I asked Teasdale what his dream track would be for Rock Band, and a big smile crossed his face. "I can't tell you... because it's coming up soon as downloadable content. Ask me this question in a month, and I'll be able to tell you." I pressed him for details, or a more specific timeline. "Something big is coming, very soon."

Hmm sounds interesting !  Smiley
