all guitar work? so there's no Finck, Fortus and Ron? rofl
the solo IS IN FACT BBF. Just to quote Beta: Everyone knows that. It is pretty clear that BBF is playing the solo, and most likely the outro shredding as well.

So many parts of the song to love:

1. The growling, demonic baritone
2. The soprano banshee wail
3. The thundering disco beat
4. The awesome solo
5. The go-for-the-jugular background riff during the awesome solo
6. The melodic chorus

All in all?awesome!

When the album is out the booklet will most likely say who plays what on what and who wrote what.

I get what you're saying. But you should be more clear about it though.

"Everybody knows that" is the quote, the rest she didn't say.

And the quote was not in relation to this topic or Bumblefoot.

I just viewed someone playing "Shackler's" in the MTV store in NYC. It was pretty cool. All the solos all performed by buckethead, except the last solo is done by Ron. If you know the band and its players, you can easily and clearly id who's playing which solo.

I just heard Shacklers Revenege for the first time. Initially I thought I was going to have to force my self to liking the song, but after a few plays it is definitely a cool song and very catchy. My initial reaction was disappointment because it sounded a lot like OMG, but it is a way better song IMHO.

I agree with one of the posters that it will be hard to say whether this song gets any airplay or catches on with the casual fans. This song seems like it would go well with an action movie soundtrack like when GNR released YCBM with T2. Hopefully it will get the exposure it deserves with RB2.

I think this song will do two things for GNR & young music fans. One it will be dissappointing to the old casual GNR fan who were probably expecting something along the lines of GNR's older material i.e. AFD, UYI, etc., because they probably dont even know the original members are no longer in the band. These people may be turned off by the musical direction the band has gone in, because this song indicates it is extremely different from their past material. Believe me there are and there will be many people who fall in this category.

Second, I think that the song will have more appeal on younger rock fans who may not be GNR fans right now so they will not have a bias against what to expect. Obviously the key is that it gets substantial air play in order reach a vast audience. However, I think overall if the music appeals to the young music fan, this will outweigh any skepticism from old GNR fans who dislike the material.

I also agree with what someone previously mentioned that it appears as though SR was put out as a statement indicating the musical direction they decided to transition into. The song is a rocker and cool. I really hope they can achieve a level of success as they had achieved in the past. I think the timing is  perferct. I always believed that if GNR would have released material in late 90's early 2000's with either the original or new line up, their music would not have been as successful as it could be now. Not because of the quality, but because it was during a period were GNR was still not as cool as it was in its heyday. They would have come accross like Metalica with Loaded, Re-load, St. Anger, etc. and be scene as mediocre, stale, past their prime, whatever. I think the world is ready and anticipating GNR's return.

If Axl pulls this off he will prove many people wrong and definitely have the last laugh. It would be a great moment in Rock history. CD will definitely be an all or nothing effort. Lets see what happens.

I can definitely hear it on radio etc and that chorus is classic.

Its the best song I've heard this year by far.

The riffing on Metallica's CD is better in my opinion but overall song quality, Shackler's destroys everything

Oh please.  We've had this argument a gazzillion times before.  Even us older casual GNR fans haven't been living in a cave for the past 11+ years.  We all got the memo in 1996 about who's out of the band.  Certain former members have been in the spotlight with their own bands.  We may be older casual GNR fans but we love to watch the Ellen show and TMZ.
