I was at a Toys R US Store...yesterday, shopping with my 3 yr old nephew and my sis and bro in law.. I wandered into the electronics, section (vid games etc), and asked a simple question, "do you guys have a release date for Rock band2, and was told they had a date, but is not till NOV".. I didn't even mention GNR, I only added that I thought I read X-box, would have it out in Sept early Oct, and was only told "what we have is it it for NOV,but not secure date".. so its not often I ask about vid games, so maybe others can look into this more?

It will be out for the PS3, at least, in mid October....just before or just after GH: World Tour.

I'm not sure that's been made "official" yet, but that's what's supposed to happen.  Xbox 360 gets about 30 days of exclusivity.

I don't think we have to worry about a leak on this one. Think about the credibility that Harmonix loses in the industry if they are thought to be responsible for the leak of an exclusive track like this. Who wouold give them the exclusive the next time?

I don't want it to leak either I love the anticipation I haven't been this excited for a song to be released in along time !! I just hope we get the album and a free dr pepper this year.

yeah I would take all the copies of the game and put them in a safe and put it in Axl's Garage.

I don't buy that theory.  People who download music illegally are gonna do it one way or another, regardless of when its released.  People are gonna get their hands on Shackler's Revenge eventually.  What difference does it make whether someone downloads it illegally before Rock Band comes out or after?  And by the same token, those who still pay for music legally will do so whether its leaked or not.  They may download the leak first but when it becomes available I trust they'll purchase it, if not off ITunes, off CD when it comes out.

Maybe I'm giving people too much credit, but that's how I see it.

like coma said I really can't see anything slipping out from the crack unit of harmonix and a rip-off from a game soft being great quality.

only about a month left and the countdown is fun.

It says "While the Rock Band 2 game and individual instruments are set for an exclusive Xbox 360 release on September 14, it now appears that Harmonix's Special Edition bundle will not make it to stores until October 19, a full month later."

The Special Edition bundle--which includes the microphone, drums, guitar and game disc--costs only $199.99, while the separate instruments and game add up to an MSRP of $249.96.

I talked to the local manager at EB's about this yesterday (stopped in to preorder something else) and he checked.

The SKU for the bundle shows, for THEM, as not coming in til October.

The SKU for the game, guitars, drums, etc all show up as coming in mid-September.

He's not sure if that means anything or not....but it's one more piece of info to add to the mix.

Rock Band 2: Behind the Music

We spoke at length with Harmonix's Audio Director, Eric Brosious, about the process of compiling tracks for RB2. Not only did we discuss the new Guns 'n Roses track, but also the reasoning behind the selection of other music. Plus, we asked Brosious about future DLC, including the possibility of seeing funk and reggae added to the mix.

IGN: How did debuting a new GnR song come about? And how was "Shackler's Revenge" chosen as the song for RB2?

Brosious: Well of course we really wanted to have GnR included in RB2 and Paul DeGooyer, our music guru and all-around good guy at MTV, worked directly with the GnR folks to make it happen. Everyone involved decided that it'd be ultra fab to have something from the mysterious "Chinese Democracy." And Axl himself took an interest and chose "Shackler's Revenge." Very cool.

IGN: Do you think this means the long-delayed Chinese Democracy will come out in my lifetime?

Brosious: Definitely?wait how old are you? RB2 will be (I think) the first public release of content from "Chinese Democracy." So, with that, maybe people will be looking forward to this album coming out even more than they were before.
