For those who are wondering about a release date. Ign.com is saying the game will be released september 30th for the xbox 360..though thats the rumored september date. It is definetly dropping in september. They expect very shortly there after it will be released on PS3 and WII. The 360 has rights for a short bit of exclusiveness on the game.

Thanks for telling us what you can Mysteron. Hopefully it does become the first single and the band gets to release the album this year. I believed them when they said they wanted to release it in 2006 and I believe you when say they want to release it this year. Hopefully I'll finally have it in my hands after sooooo many years.  beer smoking

This is big news and as Jarmo has pointed out its already gaining a lot of attention from the media.

Soon enough the press will be enquiring as to who is in the band when's the album yaddda yadda yadda, so unless this is a one off I imagine we'll be hearing soon enough from them.

Still think they should take off the Robin story mind. No one needs to see that right now

Agreed, if RB 2 can use GNR to sell more games, GNR can use RB 2 on theirs site to push the forth coming Album?  Correct?

One small problem with that. The album doesn't have an announced release date at this moment.

So GN'R could put the update on their site and you'd say "Great, but they're promoting an album with no release date".

I think I know what the issue some of you have with the lack of update on GNR.com.

Somewhere in the back of your mind, you think that an update equals a release date.

If the news that A NEW GN'R TRACK will appear in a major video game doesn't have any positive effect on you, please stay out of this thread.

Jarmo, Sept. 30th is over 2 months away.............

They can list the song as a preview for CD that comes out xx/xx/2008............

I prefer album then game so that people love the song and want to play it on rock band, but which ever is fine with me.

The game is nice, but the Album is still my top priority and since I don't play video games and am in a real band, I am only excited about the song and not the game.

I'm so excitied by this news as it probably means a release is finally in sight!  Hopefully my Axl avitar will port over on the new version of the game but if not maybe they'll have a more detailed character maker so I can make him even better.

Silly question but will I have to buy the game to hear the song officially or will it be available through I Tunes or whatever?

I actually want the game, but not on x-box

I was asked to put the recording of the announcement (part of the Microsoft press event) up...just want to pass along that I'm uploading it to youtube right now (so the quality will probably suck....) and will post the link in this thread when it's done and working.

I'm uploading the raw VOB file from the DVD recording, so.....here's hoping.

Just a word of warning:  The video STARTS with my DVR paused..so there are a few seconds of "still video" before it starts up.  Smiley

I'm curious about this too since I haven't played a video game since Atari was popular! hihi

/jarmo

Yes, however the Rock Band 1 game allowed for music downloads similar to iTunes and Amazon and even a couple of bands had the option to download the whole album.
Most likely GN'R will have "Shackler's Revenge" on this download list. Many bands have profited more from sales from Rock Band that iTunes, so it would seem like a smart
business opportunity. But overall I am very excited about this news and not trying to complain in any way, just merely showing how it is likely for a digital download.

So it is confirmed. This is a great day for us all. And can only lead to better things.

It would only make sense that the company who are producing the game which the software is featured on speak first. At some point in the near future I'm sure GNR will make a statement, but then again that statement would most likely be reiterating what we have already heard... unless there is more news about a actual physical single release, or a album release date..

No way would GNR release this song for game only and not Itunes or Album right after.  No way in hell.  It will be available illegally, so might as well make it a propper version on itunes.

Is there a stream from the Electronic Arts press conference?

yes, though the stream is being strangled to the point that it's nearly unwatchable.

http://e3.g4tv.com/e32008/press_conf_detail.aspx?pressconference_key=2

But, still, it's a little bit better than reading through a live blog. I believe this is the only stream.

They've covered most of the AAA titles and they just finished up the Sports segment; currently covering online publishing. Looks like they're saving Rock Band (and probably a surprise) for last.
