I'm guessing IGN "supposed" it would be the first single from the new album. We're still waiting for the official press release though. I checked businesswire.com, mtv.com and gunsnroses.com and didn't find anything yet. It's 10:48AM PST right now.

I guess. But that would mean we would get a single prior to this one. Thats way too much to ask for in regards to GNR. So im sticking with this being the first single for now

There are 3 scenarios in my eyes::
1)Shacklers Revenge is the debut single for CD and CD is released in the fall/winter

2) Shacklers Revenge is just a song off CD but not the single. The single is released before, during, or after Shackler is out to help build the hype for the album

3) Shackers Revenge is a song off of CD but isnt a single nor does it lead to the release of CD. kind of like OMG..---this is the worste case scenario


The point you bring up makes it even more important that GNR make a statement about this today or this week. All speculation would quickly end.
