Kick'n back in the shadows...

But doesn't the fact that it's in Guitar Hero or Rockband mean that the song in the game will be re-recorded by a different band?  I thought all songs in those games were re-recorded by studio musicians?

No. That was the case with a Guitar Hero 1 and 2 but has since changed.

Most of the bands (since technology is updated) provide tracks with each section of their songs that the band recorded themselves.
I doubt Axl would want anyone re-recording his songs...."Sweet Child" wasn't in GH2, nor "Jungle" in GH3.....

SCOM was recorded by the Guitar Hero band for GH2... only WTTJ on GH3 is actually GNR

Its really good news though, all grumbling aside. I love it when new song titles appear, it seems like so many of the same ones  have been kicking around from 2001.

It gives me hope that there really is a huge catalogue of decent material, rather than 10 versions of better, 10 of IRS, 10 of TWAT etc. etc. etc....

Also this album could have some of the most original song titles ever.

"Shacklers Revenge" - I'd buy that for a dollar!!!! ok

This sounds like a good rumor.  I haven't bought into many rumors in the past, but this just seems like the right time, the right approach, and the right alignment of planets.  With new management and confirmation from their website that the album is turned into the record company, it looks like this could be it.  I know GNR was mentioned in EW as a possible performer at the VMAs as well.  I hate to get my hopes up, but this is as good a rumor as we've had in 14 - 16 months.

I thought you were saying it was a nigtmare that November Rain was on the list and not a new song.  Well, this is just another list.  That's not the official list, right?  Whoops, I just watched the video.  I guess that would be official then.

No, but there's a video in the link showing the songs in-game. Looks real enough.

The official rock band board says it's not real. Or should they have 2 panic attacks?

Regarding this video:

Updates:
Update: Upon further summation, the video seems fake. Many of the songs are spelled wrong, and the background is not moving as it does in the original game. It's a decent fake, but probably fake, nonetheless.

Here's a link to a video that shows the current Rock Band song selection:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6koMT2n-izE

And here are some of the misspelled or wrong titles (from the video in question):

Santaria - Should be Santeria
What's Your Frequency Kenneth? - Should be What's The Frequency Kenneth?
Want To - Maybe a Sugarland song, but that's unlikely to be in Rock Band
Rodeo - Should be Down Rodeo (Unless it's Garth Brooks)

Plus many songs on that list just seem really unlikely

At a bare minimum, we seem to have another "confirmed" (via Mysteron) new GnR song title.  Rock Band or no, that's good news to me. beer

^ song title, and, if everything holds up, some kind of scheduled time for the next bit of GNR news (release date of the game and hearing this new song)...

It might not mean the album is coming out this year, but at least we won't have to wait for another leak to hear something new--and we have a decent idea of when we will hear it by.

Good points.  Rock Band has some work to do or needs to fire their editing staff if that video was for real with the misspellings and grammatical errors within the song titles.  Good fake, but you think they'd go over that thing tooth and nail to make sure everything was 100%.  I'm waiting for the fake video with a snippet of something pawned off as "Shackler's Revenge".  I never knew this game was SUCH a big deal that it would invoke this array of fake setlists and fake videos.  What's the point?

From what I've read, the game will be shown at the E3 show in Los Angeles next week.

Maybe some of the questions regarding the track list will be revealed then?

I don't know much about this game or its predecesor, but surely the chances of a brand new, unheard song making it on the track-list have to be slim?

I would be well pleased if it was, but doesn't November Rain make more sense (or another 'old' classic)?
