This movie looks pretty good! Think it could have an effect on the election?

Fahrenheit 9-11 didnt....and that was a direct attack on an actual candidate...this shoudl have no effect....i will see it though...Stone has already stated that it is not based entirely on facts...which is more than Michael Moore did....

I require neither Oliver Stone nor Michael Moore to educate me as to W's incompetence.
I'll pass on this one.

I think Oliver Stone is the most overrated director out there.
World Trade Center
wasn't very good.
Alexander
was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. If I wasn't a big Doors fan, I'd probably find the film version unwatchable. Oliver Stone butchered Quentin Tarantino's
Natural Born Killers
script.
But he did make
Platoon
, one of my all-time favorite war movies, so at least he's got that going for him.

I tend to agree. Platoon was great (even if he did just rip off classic literature) and everything else has failed to live up.

I like his movies. They kinda keep you interested in them for the duration, even though you know they're a little far-fetched. Either way, this one I'll want to see - should be funny, at least.

I actually liked WTC.
The Doors was pretty good, but there were a few things I thought were inaccurate about his portrayal of Morrison. ( IE he was really fascinated with death and that he walked around muttering his own lyrics to himself..)

The Doors movie, I liked too. I just thought they could have focused a little more on the Doors music ( which I love) and less on Morrison's acid trips, but I guess
with Stone that comes with the territory

Doors was a great flick. Platoon is a classic. JFK was awesome, some really good scenes. Costner in the court room towards the end... awesome.
Pretty sure it wasn't Stone, but speaking of JFK and Kevin Costner, check out 13 Days if you haven't seen it yet, great movie.

There are some actors that won't work for Stone because they say he's a bit freaky. He may have had some issues with studios and producers as well. He was called an out of control control freak?
? Whatever that means.

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana (AP) -- Actors Josh Brolin and Jeffrey Wright and five others involved in filming the Oliver Stone movie "W" were arrested during a bar fight Saturday morning, police said.
Shreveport police Sgt. Willie Lewis said the seven were arrested just after 2 a.m. at the Stray Cat bar.
The Times of Shreveport reported that Brolin was booked and posted $334 cash bond to be released. Police did not say Saturday night whether he or the others had been released. The paper said they are part of the crew filming "W," about President George W. Bush.
A call to Brolin's publicist was not immediately returned Saturday night.
"W" began filming in May in Shreveport. Brolin plays President Bush and Wright plays former Secretary of State Colin Powell.
The cast also includes Elizabeth Banks as first lady Laura Bush, Ellen Burstyn and James Cromwell as the elder Bushes and Thandie Newton as Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Brolin appeared in three films last year. They were "In the Valley of Elah," "American Gangster" and "No Country for Old Men," which won the best-picture Oscar.
Wright won a Tony Award for "Angels in America" on Broadway and a Golden Globe for the same role in the television miniseries. He also has appeared in "Syriana," "Ali" and "Casino Royale."
"W" is Stone's third presidential film, following "Nixon" and "JFK." He also directed the Vietnam sagas "Born on the Fourth of July" and "Platoon," which won four Oscars including best picture and director.
The Academy Award-winning director only began shopping his script for financing in January, but has quickly captured the interest of investors and Hollywood.
Stone has said the film, which will focus on the life and presidency of Bush, won't be an anti-Bush polemic, but, as he told Daily Variety, "a fair, true portrait of the man. How did Bush go from being an alcoholic bum to the most powerful figure in the world?"

Stone hasn't been as strong in recent years. but he has made some classic films.
Platoon is an all-time classic. JFK is incredible (see the extended 4-hour version if you can find it). Born on the 4th of July is a great film. Wall Street was good...although, not sure he has anything to do with the sequel. Talk Radio and Salvador were also good for what they were.
Doors and Nixon were decent but not great.
And as a screenwriter...can't forget Conan The Barbarian, Midnight Express, or Scarface.
