Right. If Slash promotes his book he's selling out. If Axl (someday) promotes his album it's part of the job.  Roll Eyes

Maybe you shouldn't have said anything because it made you look a bit ignorant considering Slash does both and more!

 Tongue

This has nothing to do with him so leave him out of the thread.

/jarmo

do you always have to be so rude?

Sorry, I forgot to add "please" at the end of the thread.

Happy now?

Somebody else had pointed that out already.

Then a Slash fan tries to make it seem like Axl is doing exactly the same things that Slash is.

Which is totally wrong!

I thought it was in the best interest of most artists to promote themselves in anway they can, to ensure one thing- they sell the product. If there is noproduct to sell, then self promotion can be to attract interest fom those able to throw some work their way.

take a movie for example, they stars travel the world attending interviews, and different premieres. Sometomes they advertise merchandise to promote the movie.

I dont think that it is bad that axl choses to be more discreet, and in the same way i dont think its amazing that the other person is not. its just two guys who chose to do things their ow prefererred way. How awful can that be?

Not Gunners. Wouldn't that be actual band members?

You seem to think I have something against Slash fans. I don't.

I only have a problem with people who try to make their hero (Slash) look better by saying Axl is doing the same, when it isn't even remotely in the same league. You know, people who make shit up....

They're both free to do what they want. But it's clear that they are the opposites in regards to making appearances in order to promote themselves.

I'm sure the Slash fans will be calling Axl a sell out when he starts talking about the music he's produced.

Like it's the same thing as being on Ellen selling a house....

For the record I'm a fan of both. I don't think I've posted enough here for anyone to make the assumption that I'm more a fan of one over the other.

My bad if I made it seem like Axl was doing the same as Slash. All I was attempting to point out was how Slash was being called a sell out for promoting his albums/book and, as another poster said, with Axl it was part of the job when CD comes out. A little hypocritical if you ask me, but whatever.

I hope Axl goes out and promotes the hell out CD when it's released. I think his presence has been missed for far too long.

As a side note, who approves all those GN'R shirts, posters, mugs and whatever else places like Spencer's and Hot Topic have? Is that the old band collectively or the current management group?

I gotta believe Axl would have final control over anything saying Guns n Roses-I'm not sure whether Slash and Duff still receive any payments over AFD type merchandise, but there is still a lot of it out there

I think Axl has pretty decisively answered the early 90s criticism that he's mr rockstar attention boy. Whatever he is -- and crazy has to be in there somewhere -- Axl is not mr rockstar attention boy.
