Very little seems to have been discussed about the new management team. I've read a bit about Irving here and there but nothing about Andy. Some questions for discussion

Who do they work for
What is their background, their strengths
Why were they chosen for GNR
What is their management style
Do they manage other bands or are they purely focussed on GNR
Will they stay after the confirmed release of CD, e.g. to assist managing tours

They must have a lot of balls to take on a task that I imagine many in the music industry would steer clear of.

Yeah, I read that earlier thanks.  ok Which kind of spurred the questions above on...was wandering if there had been any more written about him and Andy.

Irving is known to be a very cut-throat type manager and not put up with any crap from the people he represents. An example would be him firing J-Lo because she was a washed up has-been with her notorious diva attitude. Also he goes into the negotiating room and gets things done which will be more than beneficial for getting the band what they need to make "Chinese Democracy" a success.

He's also known as being a genious of sorts. IE: He helped The Eagles sell 8.5 million records by adapting to the rapidly changing music industry which bodes extremely well for Guns N' Roses. If anyone can make them a worldwide success again, it's Irving.

Hopefully we'll hear from them soon, they're great guys from my knowledge.

Also, here's an article for a quick crash course in all things Azoff.

Anyone think Irving may try and stear this album into a Walmart thing only???

I'm not too sure about that. The Eagles at WalMart made sense because firstly a lot of people shop there but moreso secondly because the aging fanbase that The Eagles have would be most likely to buy it there. They wouldn't go to a Music Store and buy it. And I'm not sure if raucous, loud heavy rock n' roll is the perfect place for WalMart especially exclusively.

I think Irving will try to steer it into digital release for the hardcores followed by a well-promoted hard copy release for the casuals.

That's exactly what I thought when I heard Azoff was invloved.  I was sure some sort of exclusive deal like he did with the Eagles would be part of it.

Interesting point that I read yesterday - ACDC's latest album is going to be released exclusively through Walmart - I would call ACDC fans "raucous, loud heavy rock n' roll".

I'm not saying I agree with it as a strategy but I am sure it's a consideration as part of a total release campaign.

If it's a parental advisory album, then it has to be censored.

Who in America who listens to hard rock wants to buy a fucking censored CD? I'll be damned if Chinese Democracy winds up in Wal-Mart censored to hell. I was pissed when Greatest Hits — albeit the fact that I believe Greatest Hits albums are for bands who've retired — turned up with Ain't It Fun censored all to hell.

It might not have to be censored, the tracks we've heard that are purportedly to be on the album, I haven't heard one curse yet. Not to say the rest of the songs won't have any cursing. I'll listen again, but I haven't heard one "Fuck" or "Bitch" in any of what we've heard.

"Bullshit" is in IRS.  Plus, they censor more than just curse words.  The Wal-Mart edit of Live Era has the word "kill" censored out in Used to Love Her, as well as any direct references to drugs.

Ahhh yes, they would edit out Michael J. Fox saying that in Madagascar, and I forgot about bullshit being in I.R.S. These examples are so damn minor compared to past GNR albums, but your right Walmart aims to have this family oriented image they want to maintain no matter how major or minor the offensive lyrics may be. I think they should at least give people a choice between the clean edit, and uncensored. I thought they used to do that anyway, ya know have two different versions. Ah well, guess we'll find out how it's gonna be marketed sooner or later.
