SLASH Issues Solo Album Update - Apr. 1, 2009

Former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash has commenced recording his debut solo album with Josh Freese (A PERFECT CIRCLE, NINE INCH NAILS) on drums, Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION) on bass, and Eric Valentine (SMASH MOUTH, THIRD EYE BLIND, GOOD CHARLOTTE) in the producer's chair. Slash says, "Things are going fantastic in the studio, Josh Freese and Chris Chaney are one hell of a rhythm machine and the guitar sound is FAT! Fucking Awesome Tone! All is going perfect so far. We start recording vocals today and I'm really excited about working with this particular individual; it's going to be quite an event."

April 13, 2009 - Monday

weekly update!

Hey, hope you had a rock & Roll Easter weekend! We've nailed 4 killer tracks with 4 amazing vocals so far & nailing another one Tues, so things are going extremely well. Everybody who has contributed vocals so far have been flawless & the rhythm section, Josh & Chris are priceless. Eric Valentine is a genius producer, not to mention, his team is great. All in all this last couple of weeks have been a hell a lot of fun & we're just getting started. its definitely going to be a kick ass record, if I do say so myself. Iiii||; ) /,,/

I agree, but that album was pumped a lot more by Sorum and Weiland with Duff coming in 3rd.

Yeah, I try not to get carried away until I hear things for myself!   I think VR secretly knew that Libertad wasn't that great, thats why Slash was talking about a quick tour and back to the studio straight away to start work on a 3rd album.  I dont even think they bothered promoting libertad.  When Contraband came out over here, there was posters in windows and everywhere but when libertad came out there was nothing.  Although I still think there was one or 2 cool tracks on it.

From Slash...

All things considered, I feel confident that we'll have all the vocals done in June.

And so the names mentioned so far are:

Ozzy Osbourne
Fergie
Ronnie Wood
Patrick Keeler
Kid Rock
M. Shadows
Josh Freese
Chris Chaney

I heard Slash was doing some shredding the other day, cheese shredding.. on a cooking show.   He was showing the audience how to make his favorite nachos.

As for Guns N? Roses/Velvet Revolver colleague Slash, McKagan revealed that the guitarist is recording a solo project with guest vocalists, including Black Eyed Peas frontwoman Fergie.

McKagan rolled his eyes at the mention of the pop singer?s name, but said he ?completely? supported Slash?s creative decisions.
