FireFox 3 is releasing in June and Mozilla is trying to set a Guiness record for the most downloads in a day. If you are a FireFox user, pledge now at: http://www.spreadfirefox.com/en-US/worldrecord.

^ They are not going to set any records then. The current number of pledges stands at 1.1 million. Firefox 2 had about 1.7 million downloads. Guaranteed, people who haven't pledged will also download Firefox 3, but I don't see it being any significant number.

Guys, Firefox was the best a few years ago, now it's a RAM hog...I would even call it bloatware.

Try the best browser now available and see what I'm talking about, Maxthon:

Maybe Firefox 2 was a memory hog, but Firefox 3 is leaner and faster.

Do you think everyone uses Windows?

Do you think everyone uses Windows?

Firefaux 3 is still using much memory, especially if you load up all those plugins/addons...150MB+ with multiple tabs, it even went 200MB+ when I was doing Java chat for 30 minutes, lol.
While on Maxthon on my PC, it never goes higher than 100MB, multiple tabs, Java chat, etc. all working on max.
It has more features, no lock ups or freeze, no error entering certain sites like Firefaux has on occasions, etc. Is the reason why in all tests Maxthon gets picked by the editor.

Why not try it first?

And most people use Windows, not Linux or Mac OS, so don't suggest I can only post software that also includes Linux and Mac OS peace

Why not try it first?

Because I run Linux. Plus, Maxthon doesn't have AdBlock Plus. Which in itself is reason enough to use Firefox.

Also, this thread is not for debating which browser is better, because as far as I've seen, no matter what features a browser has, it usually comes down to personal preference. Opera has more features than Firefox, but I prefer Firefox.

Maxthon has an option to block/unblock literally anything you want with one click.

I yet have to experience popups, malware, ads etc while using Maxthon.
Besides, AdBlock Plus doesn't work always anyhow, so why that is so crucial to have Firefaux...especially knowing the RAM hog thing, the fact it errors certain sites, freezing occasionally, Maxthon having more features etc.

For a Linux user like you, yes use Firefox, but for Windows users (which is the vast majority), the best at the moment when it comes to the things I mentioned is Maxthon and people should know instead of blindly downloading the latest Firefox or IE.

Here are a couple pages of all the new features.. i've been testing it and its awesome!!!!  can't wait till it's officially out!

by the way, i think you may find that firefox 3 is very competitive with other browsers like maxthon and opera.
