havent heard of  limburger..  The most full-on I've tried is called "Stinking Bishop" - which REEKS - but is really tasty to eat. Its from Gloucester, Uk.  dont know if I could handle keeping it in fridge for longer than an hour or two - I tell you , it honks!

one of my fave hangover foods is sliced banana and mature cheddar cheese on toast - mmmmm!

Here's some info on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limburger

This I find quite disturbing: The bacterium used to ferment Limburger cheese and other rind-washed cheeses is Brevibacterium linens; this same bacterium is found on human skin and is partially responsible for human body odor.[1]

SHARP Provolone with Sopresatta.

Now I know what I'm getting for lunch today. Thanks!!!

Great stuff. Probably my favorite combination.

For a killer sandwich, throw that on some Italian bread with some roasted red peppers, tomato & onion , then drizzle a little balsamic vinegar and olive oil on it.

I just finished it (sans onion) and loved every second of it. I have a great litttle Italian Import Shop down the street, so I teamed that up with some homemade tortellini soup. (cheese tortellini)

Anyone tried Limburger?  It smells really bad, but I have not got up the nerve to try it. Someone told me it was actually very good. That it tastes better than it smelled. ( that was not really reassuring)

I liked it. Gorgonzola is not bad either.

I like Blue Stilton port Sault
Emmental, Brie,

But I can't stand sheep/ goat products.

Gorgonzola is great - in the same family as blue but a bit more powerful.

I'm not a big fan of goat cheese either- it seems too wet and the flavor is not all that spectacular.

I like Brie or  a nice smoked gouda with water crackers.

On sandwiches...well, cheddar, jack, provolone...I like most cheese, really.

Anyone tried Limburger?  It smells really bad, but I have not got up the nerve to try it. Someone told me it was actually very good. That it tastes better than it smelled. ( that was not really reassuring)

It's ok.  Not nearly as bad as the odor.
