I can't really imagine a situation where that would be necessary. But my answer is no. I guess that makes me a bad fan.

I'm a great GNR fan, but not by the definition of a "real fan" here. Most GNR fans I know are like me. They love GNR so much (especially the AFD lineup) and go to every concert that comes to town, buys all the albums (even the GH), and follows this and other sites daily to see what's going on. I do however get pissed at Axl and place tons of blame on Axl for the whole thing going south in the mid-90s. I think some of the shit he pulls is butch league, but love his art so much I over look it mostly. I love this site, and wish that it would appeal to a wider cross-section of the GNR fandom. I think most fans love him, but also think he's falwed enough to complain about from time to time.

I think a good fan is someone who isnt a blind follower.
fans are the only checks and balances a band has.
The fans are what allows a band to behave a certain way.
If the fans dont accept shit their fav band or celebrity does, the band or celebrity will have to change.
Take GNR for instance.
When Axl doesnt take the stage for 2 hours, if everyone got up and went home and he came out to 200people, u would say that may actually stop that.
the people sticking around allow the behavior to continue.
A true fan supports but does not follow blindly
a true fan is there through great times and bad times. its easy to be a fan when things are goin good or a team is winning titles etc
its the bad times, losing seasons etc that determine how big of a fan u are.

Giving up all that I own for an album, even if it is my favorite band, well that would have to be no for me. I need all of my things so that I will have a comfortabe place to listen to the masterpiece when it is released lol. However I do believe I am and always have been the best fan I know how to be. I love and support them everyday.

Do I think I'm a good fan?
Let me tell you I got sucked in way too far!
But I've had a good time and for that, I am very grateful to the band and their fans.

besides Axl Rose and Jarmo...I dont think there is anyone else on this planet who has spent more time obsessing over "Chinese Democracy" over the past decade and a half than I have.... so yeah I guess that makes me a good fan....
