SLASH To Perform At First-Ever SUNSET STRIP MUSIC FESTIVAL - May 20, 2008

According to NME.com, GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash is among the artists who have joined the lineup for the first-ever Sunset Strip Music Festival.

The three-day event is set to take place June 26-28 at legendary Los Angeles venues including the Roxy, Whisky A-Go-Go, House of Blues, Viper Room, Key Club and the Cat Club along the 1.3-mile Strip.

The festivities will kick off on Thursday with a special opening-night party at the House of Blues, hosted by Mark McGrath, to pay tribute to the Godfathers of the Sunset Strip ? Lou Adler, Mario Maglieri, and Elmer Valentine. There will also be a very special musical performance to end the night.

Friday and Saturday night will feature performances at each of the clubs by some of the most recognizable artists in today's music scene. Check the Sunset Strip Music Festival schedule page often for the show list.

Before the final performances on Saturday, there will be an exclusive panel discussion at the brand new London West Hollywood Hotel. CNN's Larry King will be interviewing the Godfathers of the Sunset Strip among an audience of music legends and industry experts.

Sunset Strip fest will take a stroll down Memory Lane

By Gary Stoller, USA TODAY

An eclectic mix of talent is booked for the first Sunset Strip Music Festival next month.

Hip-hop star B Real of Cypress Hill will perform with former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash at the event in West Hollywood June 26-28. Other acts scheduled to appear are Everclear, Soul Asylum, Camper Van Beethoven, Hot Hot Heat, Dilated Peoples, Godhead, Hellogoodbye, Juliette and The Licks, L.A. Guns with Jani Lane of Warrant, Louis XIV, and The 88.

The festival, which will be held at the Roxy Theatre, Whisky A Go Go, House of Blues and other clubs, will pay tribute to music industry icons Lou Adler, Elmer Valentine and Mario Maglieri. CNN's Larry King will moderate a discussion with the three men, who were influential figures during the Sunset Strip's glory years in the 1960s.

Promoters expect about 9,000 people to attend the festival. Tickets for individual performances range from $10 to $26.50 and are available at ssmf.com or ticketmaster.com.
