anyone know if the inner sleeve is supposed to be white paper or clear poly?
i know for certain there are copies in circulation, but does anyone know what inner sleeve the original has?
all the ones on ebay differ between poly and paper.
mine is white paper and im hoping its original or is someone gonna piss on my bonfire and tell me its supposed to be poly?
i know there are several ways to spot a fake but i never considered the inner sleeve before now

I just checked mine. I purchased mine around 1988 on import from HMV for ?3.29 lol..  Anyway mine is with a white paper sleeve.

I worked in the production of Vinyl, CD etc... And having seen a 'fake' suicide copy at a record fare, the only way I could tell was the vinyl was a heavier based material than the original.

I actually know of one company that was prosecuted for manufacturing copy vinyl. There were reproducing RARE Madonna, M.Jackson etc in large numbers (not enough to flood the market) but were being sold for in excess of ?100 each at record fares, auction sites etc..

Lesson is, be carefull!!     Wadey, looks like you can rest easy.. You have an original!

Just found this copy of suicide on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=290230124960&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=019
looks like a dead cert original complete with import sticker which would almost confirm an original copy.....
but guess what!!!......its got a poly insert. i emailed the seller and he confirms it has a poly inner  confused
is it possible they ran out of paper and subbed it with poly or vice versa. i know some collectors will have replaced missing inners due to damage or loss etc......but this cant account for them all

Wadey, dont lose any sleep over it. I know I'm not going to. A sticker like the one on the ebay sale you linked isnt an official import sticker.

Like I said, I worked in the production of Vinyl. A customer, EMI for example would raise an order, we would print the sleeve from their files, manufacture the record and if there wasnt a printed 'inner' sleeve and the client didnt request any particular colour 'plain bag' the operator would make the decision themselves.

I would say that 10,000 copies (being an indy release) would have been produced over a couple of days and therefore different operators would have overseen the packing.

Hope that clears things up.

thanks again meanmachine..... i figured they would have used the same inners with it being a relatively small batch.
...maybe im just obsessive when it comes to my GN'R collection  Smiley
different variations of the same product always crop up...but i thought suicide would have been the same through the whole batch.
i know very little about the manufacuring process thats why its always good to hear from guys like yourself who can give a small insight into what goes on behind the scenes.
