To me this sounds more like the record company is re-releasing an album that sold more than they could've imagined.
/jarmo
Yep, definitely a record company cash grab - the business of music.
It's a smart move on their part, capitilizing on GNR being in the news of late and the possiblity of shifting some additonal units.

Perhaps it's to try to raise some promotion funds

Thanks.
I'm almost POSITIVE that the digipaks came out right at release. I remember discussing it here on the forum when the press release came out. But it may have come out the other way, then, too.
Sound like, either way, they ended up putting it out in both digipak and standard format.....so I guess that's NOT what the rerelease is about.
I'm voting for "cash grab" by the label.....a way to try to push it back onto the Billboard charts, sell some more CD's, and maybe get it a run at some better shelf space for awhile.

Money's
always
the motivation from the record companies point of view - where that money goes is all pure speculation.

I'm assuming that the "2004 release" version will be cut in price then...which means that if this is basically the same album....how do they expect to sell it!! I've noticed that stores seem to have large stocks of GH lately aswell....

Why would someone buy that again if they already own it?
Surely thats bullshit or maybe people will get that for free if they buy CD?

To be nit-picky for a sec; I hope at least the actual CD design has changed. The original just looks like a scratched up CD which I always thought was kinda stupid.

Notice how both these news sources are UK based?
/jarmo
Is it being release in the UK?
The Guns N? Roses Greatest Hits album, will be re-released in the UK on June 2nd
, especially for Father?s Day, as it?s most definitely the only album of choice for any serious rockfather.

Wouldn't any self-respecting "rockfather" already have afd and the like?

1) Maybe there's a hidden bonus track. 2) Maybe they're just trying to amp up interest in GNR before they unleash the beast. 3) Maybe the story isn't true. I don't really get the concept of just re-releasing a CD that was released 4 years ago and has sold well over the years. I hope it's not JUST to increase profits, I hope there's a more concrete reason behind it. I'm going with my second theory.
