maybe the re-release of the GH album is one of the conditions for the fulfilment of Axl & co's demands regarding the release of CD

How many albums is Axl contracted to release under his current deal? Maybe this is a way of fulfilling his contract?

Is it posted on gunsnroses.com? No.
Until it is, don't assume Guns N' Roses is releasing anything.
To me this sounds more like the record company is re-releasing an album that sold more than they could've imagined.

Guns N Roses Unveil 'New Album' Release Date
It's out next month...
by Jason Gregory
15 May 2008
Guns N Roses are to release a greatest hits compilation on June 2nd, it?s been confirmed.
The retrospective will contain hits from all their albums, including ?Paradise City? and ?Welcome to the Jungle?.
It?s the first of two albums the band are expected to release this year, the second being their long-awaited new studio album ?Chinese Democracy?.
As previously reported, drinks company Dr Pepper have promised to supply every American citizen with a free drink if the band release the album this year.
At present, it's understood that the band are in negotiations to secrure the album's release.
The tracklisting for the band?s greatest hits is:
?Welcome To The Jungle?
?Sweet Child O? Mine?
?Patience?
?Paradise City?
?Knockin? On Heaven?s Door?
?Civil War?
?You Could Be Mine?
?Don?t Cry (Original)?
?November Rain?
?Live And Let Die?
?Yesterdays?
?Ain?t It Fun?
?Since I Don?t Have You?

agreed...but to add to the speculation (cuz i know jarmo likes it when i speculate
) anyway i wonder if this is another ploy to force axl's hand at the negotiation table..we all know Axl (as well as duff and slash) were up in arms about the GH when it was first released in 04...i jsut wonder why on earth they would do the exact same tracklist..i wonder if they will at least change the packaging?
another thing is that there are a billion copies on the shelf whenever i go into a record store so i really dont understand why they would need to ReRelease it. it makes aboslutely no sense
of course this could be a GH that axl apporves of (ie the rumored double disk from a couple years ago
"Welcome to the Jungle: the Very Best of Guns N Roses"
) i dunno if i'm even allowed to talk about that rumor though...i guess we'll find out if this post gets deleted

I can't remember...it's been awhile since I bought my copy, looked at the jacket, etc but...
Wasn't the "old" version of GH a digipak? Soft cardboard jacket, etc?
Honestly, the rerelease could be something as stupid as releasing it with "standard" packaging.....

I think it was available in both packaging formats.
Notice how both these news sources are UK based?
