Shocked

OMG! STREET TEAMS FTW!!!11!!!

 rofl

Like Buckethead, it's yesterdays humor  peace

Yes, exactly. But unlike the street teams Mr.Bucket has been productive.  peace

Seeing the phrase 'street teams' on a GNR forum brought back some funny and not so funny memories. One can only hope a day is soon coming whereas fans will actually have a product and/or date to 'promote' huh?

Everyone needs to play the album as loud as possible in public. In your cars, down the park on a sunny day, at jukeboxes in bars. Then let the music do the talking

Are they still in neogations ??

Yes

 Embarrassed

Somewhere in the corner of a dark room a record company exec is sitting with a slab of rock and a cold steel chisel, "What's our latest offer to Mr.Rose again? I need to get it etched into this piece of stone asap so that we can strap to the turtles back and send him on his way to the Malibu mansion!! - Oh crap, I added an extra zero to that number! I gotta start the 5 hour process over again?!"

Everything just seems to be moving at a snails pace.  Cry

So turtles are as slow as snails?

Times have changed. Both parties are wanting what is best for them is a completely different era to the last album release.

No need to get too defensive there Mystery, I'm just saying it feels like it's been in negotiations for a long time. If the record label has had the album since just before xmas we are almost at 6 months of negotiating.

I'm not laying blame, pointing fingers or whatever, but I think all the fans will agree that this feels like a long ass time.

It doesn't help when someone like Trent of NIN steals Robin away and releases an album, featuring Robin, a month later - for free - online.

*sigh*

No worries, if the music is good I have a stereo system in my R/T loud enough to make sure it's heard in my area .. lol.

nobody ever said that the label has the album...just that "it's finished"

It's gonna be big news all over the world when the album comes out.

But I reckon its up to us, the core group of fans, not just general GNR fans, but the fans who are supporting the NEW lineup and supporting the NEW music. There are hundreds of thousands of GNR fans out in the world, but not as many who are so eager for new music by the new band as we are.

I've already gone out of my way to talk to people in record shops, people who I see in shops wearing GNR shirts, generally any music fan I know to try to give them a positive attitude towards the new album, not just shrugging it off as "isn't it that album which theyve been working on for 20 years or something like that", misinformed based on what is published in the press.

People are still going to be crying about Slash's absence or that "its not the same anymore" blah blah blah

But it's up to us to spread the word about THE MUSIC. At the end of the day, the band members are serving the music - It doesn't matter who is playing guitar, whether it is Finck, Fortus, Bumblefoot, Buckethead, Axl, Zakk Wylde, Paul Huge, or whoever

Actually I'm surprised it's not at the front of Fox News programs with "sources" like that. You forget Jarmo, I don't know how it is there but here in America, our news is controlled an run by companies with agendas who use money to influence what is printed and reported and what's not. Verifiable and credible sources are a thing of the past, especially in the internet age. It's about who has the money thus the power thus the respect.

Sad but true.  Sad

I think there is too much looking to the future when we are in the present.  Get the CD out there and start touring.  Keep it simple and go for T-Shirt sales.  They already made the best music they are putting out, whether it sells a bunch or changes the music scene is irrelevant.  It's a changing business and that can't be controlled right now, it's a learning experience and that is best done by doing it.  Get out there and get moving.

Yes

Is this active negotiations or is there a stalemate?  Obviously they're not working on this thing 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.  But they should be!  For the love of god, hammer this thing out!  Because if they've reached a point in which neither side is willing to give concessions, we can be waiting a very long time.  And I just really hope that isn't the case.

I totally agree, but there are also countless people who will need to be paid for work done on the album-with Bucket and  possibly Robin gone, producers who have left or have been fired, and who knows how many other musicians, I would not be surprised if the record company wants to avoid what could be potential lawsuits from people claiming to have come up with ideas for songs but not credited and so on

Are Buckcherry? Cripes that was quick!

Some might argue its too much all at once, but I think these bands will benefit, it could be deemed as the year rock came back or something.

Plus plenty of options for festivals next year, omg if GNR, Metallica and AC/DC all headlined Download or something similar I would come in my pants

I must admit: I do that now.

I play the live stuff from the tour, the old "acoustic rarities" stuff...and other stuff Wink...from the band in my car, at deafening (probably literally...we'll see some day) decibel levels with my windows rolled down.

Occasionally I'll get a reaction from a driver next to me.....

ok part of the problem with ipod and the digital generation is the ghettoblaster seems to have died a thousand deaths.

I seem to remember Axl tearing through the streets before UYI was released playing the album in his car.

This may be bullshit, but the only source I've ever used, and it's been a while since I have, has told me that a plan is being developed, near completed and that if it happens we will see Chinese Democracy happen so fast that it won't leak.

This is the same source that said Izzy was going to return to GN'R and you all called me an idiot and the same source that told me something was going to happen on iTunes, that of course never happened. He knew nothing about the Harley add, I even asked him. I have no idea where he gets his info, so take as you will. He is a friend of a friend, so I don't grill him about details. If I did he would simply not bother telling me. For the record, he hasn't said a thing to me about GN'R for over a year. My source was a very connected blogger that once worked for Pitchfork. He isn't a GN'R fan, but he does follow anything that moves in the music industry.
