Jarmo, let's face it , I don't know what's your problem with Robin but most of the fans wants him in the band and loves him. I know that GN'R is a band, that there's other guitarrists and all that stuff but Robin is special, is the right guy to be next to Axl and some people wants to see him in Guns N' Roses no matter the tour delays two or three months.

The better question is what's Robin's problem. Granted this is pure speculation, but I would have to assume that it isn't Axl's primary plan to not tour following the November release of his decade in the making album. As it stands now his open ended commitment with Trent appears to be stretching into June (and possibly further)... What gives him the right to essentially hold GnR hostage while he tours with no firm schedule for another band...

Fortus is an infintely better player than finck in both composition and tech ability, you just have to look at the solo spots both players had on any GnR tour.

If anything, Jarmo's been pretty consisten in his views of lead guitarists that have left the band Wink

Believe me I'm not a Jarmo ass kiss around here but,

How can you guys say he's dumping on Robin?? Its Robins choice to do what he's doing....

Just because Jarmo acknowledges there is other guitarists in this band, and its not essential to have Finck in if he dosent want to be there, dosent mean he hates the guy  Roll Eyes

OK, well first off there no new's regarding touring on GnR, two there's been no decision on Robin's status in GnR IT IS WHAT IT IS.  Until there's GnR dates that are offical not some rumours and if they do happen to be the same time that NIN is playing, then I would suspect that Robin would not be apart of GnR.  Until that happens nobody should be complaining or moaing over Robins decision to play with NIN.

No problem.

My "problem" is people thinking Robin alone makes GN'R.

I would've loved if things, that unfortunately happened, hadn't happened.

But the fact remains, he left GN'R for NIN for the second time.

I don't think it's fair to expect the rest of the band to sit around waiting for him while he finishes up his NIN tours just because you love him so much.

If GN'R wants to tour before Robin is done, I support that. Because you have to move ahead when you're ready to do so.

The album is out. The thing they've worked for has been accomplished with its release.

I happen to think all guitarists who are, or have been, in GN'R are competent players.

Just because you identify yourself with one guy, doesn't mean the other guitar players can't be "superstars taking over the world".

lol, composition? I don't think so. I love Robin's compositions/solos and I haven't heard anything so beautiful/different from Fortus.

Anyway, Jarmo is right, guys. If you really believe that both Ron and Richard can't 'take the spot' you're kidding yourselves. Ron is a virtuoso that can play note for note what Robin, Bucket, Richard or any other guitar player played in Guns N' Roses - hell, he probably can play note for note what ANY alive guitar player played up to date. But, of course, he'll do things his way. He won't play Finck's solos note for note if he doesn't come back. I love Robin, but if he wants to marry Trent, fuck him. Richard can handle almost all the rhythm stuff anyway. And he can, of course, play most of - if not all - Bucket's and Robin's stuff. I'm cool with only Richard and Ron, IF Robin doesn't come back.

Don't ever say "most fans" and Robin in the same paragraph, because you can't say that is true.  I'd take Buckethead with one arm over 3 Robins any day ending in "y", and I would wager there are many that would agree with me.

If this was the first time Robin had "left" I'd be ok with it, but it's not.

I thought his stage presence was great too, but any hack in any guitar shop could butcher SCOM like Robin does.

I love Robin as an artist, I hate the position that he seems to have put the fellas in.  What I hate more is that he does not seem to acknowledge anything publicly.  I don't need or deserve justification from Robin, but he apears to be considerate of his fans and I would have expected a bit more from him.
You're an exception.

No, he's not.  I agree 100% with everything he said.  Also, I venture to guess that 50% of anyone attending a GNR show today has no idea who Robin Finck is.

EDIT:  Although he did write Better and deserves major props for that.

^ And how is this important? If they liked Chinese and don't know who Robin is, what's the problem? Still, the guy would win everyone over there.

IF - and a big IF here - Robin wants to move on with NIN, that's fine. He does what he wants, there are way too many things we don't know to judge his decision. I love the guy, he's my favorite guitar player in Guns EVER (and don't even start to whine - its MY opinion), but what can I do? Love Ron too and he's more than capable. And I'm sure anyone who fill the spot will be too.

The thing I hate is people trying to put Robin down just because he wouldn't be in the band anymore. And this whole thread, since day 1, had people in this bashing orgy. For fucks sake, the album is more than enough to prove his talent, why would anyone deny that?

(BTW, the same goes for Ron, who also deserves some props)

Well, I know, but Richard as a lead guitarist wouldn't be a good idea. Robin is - at least in Guns - much more creative than Richard. At this point, though, I think that if Robin wanted to leave he'd have announced months ago. Again, I love him, but if he wants to stay with NIN, it's his problems, his loss. I just want Robin and Brain for the tour... if we can't have Robin, imo Ron should be the only lead guy.

Fortus is good, we've heard his leads in some of the solos.....but when you hear his leads, they sound like any proficiant and talented shredder. With Finck ( and Bucket) and B-foot to a lesser extent, their styles are unique and you know who it is when you hear them.

yeah i mean robin has writing credits on 1 song compared to richards none.

robin is replacable. fortus is more than capable of playing robin's parts.

His 'feel' is not replaceable. But then again richard would bring in his own feel.

^ Yeah, I do think. And I also agree with Senator Blutarsky - we're talking about unique style, not just an efficient guitar player. I've been saying this for years, but let's do it one more time: there's way too many musicians out there who could play everything. Still, it's not just what it's being played, but much more the way it is. It's the feel, the tone and the style.

IF - and a big IF here - Robin wants to move on with NIN, that's fine. He does what he wants, there are way too many things we don't know to judge his decision. Don't think so. It would be weird to have Ron doing all the solos in TWAT, IMO. I would go with two leads anytime. Even three, like November Rain was.

The thing I hate is people trying to put Robin down just because he wouldn't be in the band anymore. And this whole thread, since day 1, had people in this bashing orgy. For fucks sake, the album is more than enough to prove his talent, why would anyone deny that?

...right?
You should check D's post history.

Robin is - at least in Guns - much more creative than Richard.

yeah i mean robin has writing credits on 1 song compared to richards none.
Yeah, because Robin's solos in Street of Dreams, IRS, Chinese, TWAT and This I Love were written by Axl, right?

That's one of the worse comments to discredit a member I've ever saw.

robin is replacable. fortus is more than capable of playing robin's parts.
Again, no one is denying Fortus is capable of playing. But it's a matter of the way it sounds.
