if this is the end of robin's history in GNR, its ok for me. I will miss him a lot. GNR will never find a guitar player like him. Shame he will be losing his time, talent and skills in that boring-mediocre band, where he will never be a truly part of the creative process, but that's his choice and I respect it.

But this should not be the way to know about it. He should have informed the gnr fans, not fucking reznor and his giant mouth.

now its time for Tobias' comeback  ok

i guess Axl thinks so too... since his new sound is influenced by Trent's.

I really give a flying fuck about Axl's opinion about NIN. I still think it's a boring-mediocre band. It got better with Robin (I admit it)

And I dont see the NIN influence in ChiDem.

From Trent on the nin board:

"... was it something I said? Wow.

For the record - Robin is not leaving the band."

http://forum.nin.com/bb/read.php?9,278719,280701#msg-280701

THAT SUCKS.

Screw Trent ! the only reason I went to see the lights in the sky tour was because of Robin.  I respect Trent for making good music and being great to his fans, but this talk about .. was it something I said ? Wow  rofl   of course it was ! you made it sound like NIN were done.  I think Trent is afraid of losing Robin and would do anything to make him stay.  Robin if your reading this, comeback to GnR were you can write and perform instead of just performing.

Oh My God (not al album cut... but it was a taste of things to come)

Shackler's Revenge

Silkworms

and even ChiDem has a hint of it.

Did you hear something detailed about his personal plans that the rest of us didn't?

Don't see the need to lash out at Trent.  Sad you only saw NIN to see Robin Finck!  Huh

I don't think he saw anything the rest of us didn't. Probably just the same confirmation from Trent that the rest of us saw.

I love Robin. I will miss him. But he does lack technicality. BH is great at that. But I believe he lacks the soul/depth/rawness of Slash. It's all win/lose.

I think I saw him at a John McCain rally, thought you would have noticed.

I agree to an extent, his solos in concert were yawn-inducing.

But when he started playing the opening notes to "Sweet Child O' Mine", he definitely reinvigorated the audience at the Worcester show in November '06.

To answer the question, I have never seen him give an interview. Two albums that he plays on The Slip and Chinese Democracy came out this year--his first two, I think, so you'd think he might do one with Guitar World or something...

Nah, Robin doesn't strike me as being politically intelligent.

I could play the opening of SCOM at Worcester and the crowd would go ape shit.

So it wasn't HE but the song written by someone else.

I like how people on here are bold enough to act like he is irreplaceable.

HAHA that is just hilarious.

U replaced Slash,izzy and Buckethead.

I think the world will kee spinning without a guy who wrote one song on the entire album

can we ship this to ex gunners already?

Im tired of talking about this dude.

get him out of here already

u dont wanna be in GNR

PEACE!

The live stuff I have seen (never actually live, sadly) he does not seem to be very clean, nor does he bend or have the emotion he has on CD.  In his defense I have only seen a small sampling, one very BAD example was 'Beautiful' (don't remember which show)...there are quite a few HS kids on YouTube that put his efforts to shame.  I am looking forward to BBF & Fortus...if Robin comes back - OK, if not - even more OK.   ok

i agree - it was the songs and not robin that would pop the crowds at live shows.  he's a mediocre guitarist at best and clearly showed he nothing more than a riff-man.  sure, his work on cd is great, but c'mon already if you think he's irreplaceable

I've seen Robin three times, 2x with GN'R and once with NIN and feel that the dude has presence and can play. He's also an underrated musician, going by his work on Chinese Democracy and The Slip. Check out NIN's live album/DVD And All that Could Have Been... There is just something about Robin that's awesome.

I like NIN as much as I like GN'R so it's a win-win for me, whatever band he's in, although I wish he could stay in both.
