I highly doubt after 10 years 3 tours and all his contributions to CD that he would just walk away. My bet is the next time you  see GNR on stage robbin will be there.

others have, why not him?

I just hope he's still in the band, I'm confident he's done a great job on the record,
and to speak about what we knows, he's a great live guitarist.

I dont know what's gonna happen with Robin, all I know is his (and GNR's) silence about his status is making Robin's figure grow fastly.

if this is some kind of sick strategy, its working.

I hope one of the parts break the silence soon. I want Robin back.

Here's a semi good sign:  TR announced via nin.com that Josh Freese is leaving the band at the end of the year. He says theyre still good friends and its a mutual thing. NIN has dates planned through Spring '09 and possible another US leg in the summer. If Freese is leaving, theres a semi-decent chance TR might revamp the band and Robin will bow out to return to GNR.

I have to believe that Freese will be VERY difficult to replace but in all honesty, I think Robin is back in NIN for the long haul.

I'd highly doubt that Robin would choose NIN over GNR. Obviously he gets to show off his skills a little more in GNR. Not only that he has wrote 0 songs for NIN but is a big part in writing one of the most highly anticipated albums of all time. At this point I'm not even worried.

NOT that I think the report, below, means anything (at least the part about Robin) but....:

"If The World" features the guitar work of Robin Finck and Buckethead, who have both since departed GUNS N' ROSES.

I'm sure it's been mentioned before but this is 100% not true.  Robin does have songwriting credit on some of the tracks on ghosts.  Not sure if he does on the new album as well or not.

so according to the countdown to chinese democracy podcast (or whatever the fuck it's called), it looks like robin's out, wonder if there's any truth to it?  probably all bullshit
I can't listen to the whole thing here, could you tell me exactly when they said that?

Edited: just heard about them hanging out with Robin. Nothing about him being out, tho. Where did you get that from?

There's a lot of people who don't want the guitarrist who ate the myth of Slash, so they spread shit like that.

Funny.

No, in case you're serious, I meant that guy's post is suited for the Dead Horse section.

I'm sure it's been mentioned before but this is 100% not true.  Robin does have songwriting credit on some of the tracks on ghosts.  Not sure if he does on the new album as well or not.

Ghosts I?IV: All songs written and composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, except where noted
"4 Ghosts I" (Alessandro Cortini, Reznor, Ross)
"11 Ghosts II" ? 2:17 (Reznor, Ross, Cortini)
"17 Ghosts II" ? 2:13 (Cortini, Reznor, Ross)
"19 Ghosts III" ? 2:11 (Reznor, Ross, Cortini, Brian Viglione)
"22 Ghosts III" ? 2:31 (Reznor, Ross, Cortini, Viglione)
"25 Ghosts III" ? 1:58 (Reznor, Ross, Adrian Belew)
"27 Ghosts III" ? 2:51 (Reznor, Ross, Belew)
"29 Ghosts IV" ? 2:54 (Reznor, Ross, Cortini)
"33 Ghosts IV" ? 4:01 (Reznor, Ross, Cortini)

The Slip: All songs written and composed by Trent Reznor.

Robin Finck ? performance

So, as you can see, no song writing credits on the last two album by NIN.

Maybe more to come?  Cheesy

On another note, Josh Freese fans be sure to check out a show on the upcoming North American leg of the tour, as sadly they will be the last ones he's playing with us. He informed me he's leaving the tour at the end of this year. Yes, we are still dear friends. No, I'm not sure what we are going to do.
See you in Mexico!

Man, is this a sick relation between NIN and Guns n Roses or what? I mean, NIN influenced on things that hapenned with their breakdown in the 90s, and then Robin going back and forth along the bands, why don't they get together after all?   beer

I would love to see a NIN+GNR tour, so everybody would have their share of Axl, Trent and Robin! hihi

You know, I get that Robin's a free spirit and has dedicated a lot of his time to the making of this album and is currently committed to the NIN tour.   But FUCK!!! This is Chinese Democracy!! Pretty much the most anticipated rock album of all time.  How in the world do you walk away from that on the eve of it's unleashing.  And to add insult to injury, say NOTHING to his fans in GNR regarding his plans.  Just wow.

Here's my guess:

Robin had some down-time and went on tour with NIN. Now GN'R has their album coming out and maybe he's thinking about what to do. Maybe he isn't sure about his plans.
