i don't get the portion of the fanbase that feels anything he says needs to involve GnR.  He's touring with NIN right now.   If GnR tour again, that is when your concerns will truly be valid.

I agree with you 100 percent, its just hard to explain he goes and plays with NIN after 02, 06/07, tours.  I guess seeing people go from band to band is a bad sign well maybe in this case its not.  I feel that he will be back it just seems like the timing is kinda off.

well look at Josh Freese.  NIN drummer, he's in several other bands and does session work for several more.    It is possible to be involved in more than one band.

he's a musician.   ultimately, i really don't like robin, but he wants to play music.  there's nothing happening right now with gnr.  why not go.  my hope is that he won't return, but if that will delay cd, then i hope he comes back.

he's been GnR's lead guitarist for about 10 years.   how could you not want him in the band?

Maybe because Robin seems to be the equivalent of 'Manny being Manny' and even though he was a major part of what will (hopefully) be a banner achievement for GNR, if Robin doesn't wanna play for 'our team' anymore then good riddance.

IMO "Only Robin knows what Robin's doing." is disrespectful to his GNR bandmates and to the entire GNR organization and his GNR fans.

but like i said, it really doesn't matter until it comes time to tour.   he is not needed, and he went to play in NIN.   That does not automatically mean Robin doesn't want to play for 'our team' anymore.     He might just be looking to fill his time when he isn't doing anything else.    no one talks shit about ron for doing his solo album, its the same fucking thing.

What most important is that robin knows what Robin's doing. Knowing that your friend knows his business, you don't worry. That's trust.

Sorry to go a bit of topic, but here in aus, Theres a rugby league footballer named Sunny Bill Williams that plays for the bulldogs,
anyways he Just up and left his football team just when they were about to have a game, and fled to France,
The nrl code were up in arms and very angry and bitter and showd resentment towards him and his situation, and no one knows why he left at no notice whatsoever!

Only the people that actually choose to do what they do, know at that point in time that they have made the right decision,
Now whether that is the right decision for the participating parties is secondary to what Robin wants to do.
Every now and then people have to make a decision to put their needs first, and mabye thats what Robin has done,
we just have to back his decision even though we dont understand the situation at the moment, we must trust he is doing the right
thing by Himself, before any concerns of the band or anyone else, after all it wouldn't be the first time A band member has done this,

Robin's busy rehearsing and touring with NIN and probaly doesn't have time to read a thread of 154 pages.  Im sure he would probaly laugh at some of us who think he's left.  There's nothing going on in the GnR world as touring goes, hell he doesn't even have time to update his website let alone write a statement on his status in GnR.  The man is busy making a living give him some respect.
