pretty fucking cool.

and if you don't agree, what does it really matter anyways?  he's one of the best guitarists in the biz today.   thats what matters.

Just wondering I don't really care how he looks as long as he's playing well but what would he do if they decided they wanted to tour and he's dressed up like he is in NIN. Last tour he had his hair grown out and actually looked approachable and human. I couldn't imagine taking someone seriously dressed up like an Anti Christ.

So looking like the Anti Christ is not cool, but looking like Jesus Christ is ok?

Sure. He looked godly like in 06 lol

...and now he looks like he got in a fight with haircutting shears.

But I hardly think Robin cares what any of us think of his haircut.

still, I don't think anyone hates some compliment.

Robin looks cooler every time he changes his look.  peace

anyhoo I don't get why people call it a NIN look when no one in/with NIN wears his hair like Robins.

Robin is not sloppy, he is one of the best guitar players in the business.

Haha not even close, he makes a terrible Slash imitator thats for sure. There is being sloppy and there is being bad. Robin is constantly guilty of 'overbending' notes of tune on the old material. And this isn't a matter of opinion. You either bend a note in tune or you don't, it isn't up for debate that if you are out of tune it's good or not. It isn't.

That said....

I quite like Robin's work on the new material. I think TWAT has some awesome work from Robin (near as I can tell he does the little bridge of the acoustic guitars, and the first half of the outro solo followed by what sounds like Buckethead), as does the Blues...that's a great solo without a doubt. So I don't know where I stand on his playing per se, but I will say this: he's terrible on the old material, but seems to be very good on his own stuff.

You're forgetting Better when complementing Robin on the new material.

But i agree with you when it comes to over bending the notes. Not good and he does it all the fuckin' time...

I think a lot of people forget what Robin's roots are. Axl took basically an industrial guitar player, who played pretty simple material with NIN, who are definitely not known for strong guitar work, and turned him into the lead player of a guitar-driven rock band. It would be like taking someone like B.B. King and making him the lead guitar player for Slayer. Give him some credit...

Yeah but all those guyswrote some of the most legendary, amazing, memorable all time great riffs/solos in music history.

So there is definitely a difference in their sloppy and Robin's sloppy.

dude, you make no fucking sense at all.. as usual.

what is the connection to writing songs and performing music live?  THERE ISN'T ANY!   Robin is not sloppy, he is one of the best guitar players in the business.   That is why he is sought out by guys like Trent and Axl and you are posting your songs on your myspace page.

Nice cheap shot porn boy

1st: I wouldnt join an already famous band if I were asked cause I think its a shortcut and Lame to piggyback off another musician's career

any musician will tell u, that learning some tabs or having some dude show u how to play something and WRITING something of your own are two entirely different beasts that are nowhere near the same level.

2nd: U give me a room full of instruments in a studio and u give Robin those same instruments in a studio and I guarantee I write \better songs cause  I am a better "overall" musician than this clown.  The only thing he does better than me on a guitar is play other people's shit.

I never wanted to say anything like this, but u made this shit personal so Im gonna be honest about it. I think a guitar player in GNR should at least be WAY better than I am.  This guy should be on myspace cause he has had how many years in the industry and he has written how many more hits than me? NONE

The GNR guitar player has wrote as many hits as u.

The kid on MSG 2002 sums it up best when screaming at Robin "My little brother plays better than U"

U let Axl sing over my riffs and u would be sucking my dick on here guaranteed.

i dont think we can really comment on robins writing capability....we dont have any evidence of what he has or hasn't written.

what I can say is that there are thousands of guitar players out there (probably a lot on this forum) that are technically more proficient guitar players than robin finck. me included  Wink

you forgot to add "imo" or "imho"

to make your self credible,

seriously, people should think before they write,
If Robin was such a "bad" guitar player as some people have said, Then why :

1. Did Axl want him in the new gnr,
and
2. welcome robin back after he went in nin for a while a few years ago,

I mean, its quiet humourous when all the so -called "gnr fans' are with robin when hes in gnr,
but the second hes position in the band is questionable we bash him and down his ability,

talk about double standards, but hey

"Finck must be crap, cause I am soooo much better then him on guitar ,
I mean , my songs that are famous, and Ive played in many big band,  Wink, OH WAIT    Embarrassed ok

You can be a great guitarist AND a lousy player. You dont need to be a technical wizard like Satriani or Vai if you have a great feel for the instrument. Robin is a sloppy player but I like it all the same.

I've always been one of the guys who likes the way Robin plays. I think you've said it correctly; Robin may be sloppy but it's part of his style and I love it. I personally like the way he plays the November Rain solo in particular better then anyone else.

Paul Huge, Gary Sunshine and Dave Navarro appear on the song as well as Robin Finck. Robin's part was written by Paul and extensively manipulated by our producer, Sean Beaven. Robin was not involved in the writing of the final recording though did participate in the arrangement. - axl.

looks like it's not only forum members who take shots at him...

bs.

That's a part of  the press release for oh my god and axl is saying robin plays on the song.
By contraries, I read somewhere that Robin said  he didn't. is it true?
How can it be a dig?

this is another extract from the same article.

"Musically the song was primarily written by Paul Huge over two years ago, with Dizzy Reed writing the musical hook of the chorus. Former member Duff McKagan as well as former employee Matt Sorum failed to see its potential and showed no interest in exploring, let alone recording the piece. When the demos were played for the new band, Josh, Tommy and Robin were as they say 'all over it.'"
