U are the LEAD GUITAR PLAYER in GNR, U should have some loyalty.

Maybe Axl's shown him a side he doesn't wanna be involved in?

Maybe he's been offered a ton of cash?

Maybe he's doing it for a short term because Axl's told him they wont be touring this year?

Maybe this, maybe that?

None of us know ... being this abrupt about how loyal Robin should be is fools talk at this stage.  Let's just wait and see Smiley

I am sure Robin will talk when he is able to....Robin is probably going to be very busy for a very long time.

Because GNR is owned by Axl....GNR is what ever form or shape that it is at any given moment...it is an unstable group. CD will ultimatley be a collaberative effort of many musicians not of a true band. This is why I maintain the idea that as soon as new managment got involved Robin realized that he was not in a band in the true sense but has been hired to be on an album and help create an album that may not be trully seen as a bands album but a collaberation. It may not even be titled after GNR...we really don't know that yet...Maybe new managment is encouraging Axl to release the album as a solo project so that the avenue for a more credible GNR album can be persued in the future. Robin has basically found out that he has not been in a band but has been apart of a collaberation. He probably also reliazes that the direction for GNR in the future may not include him. Remember the new management team is for both Axl and GNR. Who knows what advice they have been giving to both?

It may not even be titled after GNR...we really don't know that yet...

How many times have you heard of the "forthcoming Guns N' Roses album"?

Why would Guns N' Roses still tour if there were no plans to release a new Guns N' Roses album?

The latest example from Axl himself: We are surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr. Pepper with our album Chinese Democracy as for us this came totally out of the blue.

Wouldn't that be like having a Rolling Stones tour playing new songs and then have the same guys play on Mick's solo album?

Some of these theories people come up with are just out there....

Unfortunately, lack of official information leads to rampant speculation.  Now that we're over 50 pages of this thread with NOTHING official to go on, it's time for everybody to take a deep breath and relax a bit....one way or another, word will come when the time is right.

So he would leave that situation to join on as a touring member for a one man band?  With all the years that Robin worked with Reznor he never received a writing credit either.  So it would be what they call a lateral move at best, even though it's been a long time coming, he will receive writing credits on CD

So to me this idea that he would leave GnR for NIN for artistic reasons as I've already said doesn't make sense.  He wouldn't leave GnR because NIN would somehow be a better artistic or musical outlet for him.  He might leave GnR for other reasons but that would not be one of them, at least not if he left for NIN

I just can't see Robin leaving Gn'R, especially now that the album seems so close to being released.

I think he'll play the US dates, and then perhaps more if Chinese Democracy still isn't ready to be released.

If come September Gn'R are active again, Trent will have Aaron, or someone else take Robin's place in the NIN lineup.

How many times have you heard of the "forthcoming Guns N' Roses album"?

Too many to count unfortunatley...yet nothing has been official either

Why would Guns N' Roses still tour if there were no plans to release a new Guns N' Roses album?

That's a good question wonder if Axl could answer that for us? Since Axl owns the name GNR he can tour under any name he chooses. Naturally he goes with the greatest and most recognizable name for now.

The latest example from Axl himself: We are surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr. Pepper with our album Chinese Democracy as for us this came totally out of the blue.

'our album' does not indicate anything other than the album was put together by more than one individual. He did not say GNR's album Looks like the Dr. Pepper marketing and Robin leaving have both come out of the blue....wonder what surprise will be waiting for Axl next.

Wouldn't that be like having a Rolling Stones tour playing new songs and then have the same guys play on Mick's solo album?

From the MTV 2002 performance and Rock in Rio 3 to the last tour in Japan the band has changed some guitarists and even finished with a different drummer...so I guess it would depend on the song

Some of these theories people come up with are just out there....

So it doesn't matter to you that Axl has talked about the next GN'R album?

In the end, it?s just an album, but it?s one that I, the band, our record company and all involved believe and feel is a true Guns N? Roses album.
Axl, December 2006

I can't believe some are now debating whether or not it'll be a GN'R album.

People including Axl can say alot of things. Usually actions speak louder than words. In this case we have had little of both. We have seen small waves of hope for the future of this band and for this album. Ultimatley whatever configuration CD comes in I'll be happy to see a conclusion. Axl owns the name GNR....so GNR is whatever it is on any particular day with whomever happens to be under contract or credited to adding to the creative process on any given song or album. Gnr is different on AFD / lies on UYI 1&2 on Spaghettie Incident....On the Symphany for the Devil on OMG...on the leaks. It has been a for ever changing entity with one constant...AXL. So Axl can call it his band because it is his band legally. He won the right to that privilege. But anyone song on the album could have a variety of configurations....but in the end its GNR. But what does that really mean. What incarnation is he referring to when he says a true GNR album....he is saying it is what ever he deems an honest representaion of his belief of what it should sound like whether he has slash or bucket or bumble of robin or none of the above. Axl has the final say cuz its his totally and completely.

Maybe he means what it says and not what you think he says?

Maybe there's a common thing that goes through all the different line ups and years until today? Maybe it's the sound? Maybe it's the type of songs? Maybe it's the attitude? Maybe it's the voice? Maybe it's the lyrics?

First you're debating if it'll be released under Axl's own name and now you're debating what a GN'R album is.

What's next?

I  love it how you somehow manage to give a half assedly made cover of rollingstone classic, another "stand alone" soundtrack contribution or leaks released against bands will  enough credit to make it sound like we were talkng about as relevant milestones as the actual albums that made GNR.
...And please stop trying to make it sound like Guns n' Roses had always  been "Axl's project&vision"
It hasn't.

Axl was talking about putting out a double album in 1987.

That's a vision.

So who's vision and project is it? You think Robin asked Axl if he wanted to sing on his next GNR album CD? Considering everyone has left Axl and GNR I guess the one left standing holding the GNR fort was Axl....last time i looked he hasn't fired himself from the band....yet.

I fail to see why thats a big deal. I'm almost certain people had put out double albums before.

Stop discrediting the Original GNR.

"Oh boy oh boy, I am witnessing Axl's project&vision!"..Is that honestly one of the first things that comes to mind when listening through AFD, UYIs ot when watching some bootleg circa 87-92?

"Hot debate of the day: Has GNR always been Axl's project and vision"
HTGTH or not, We really shouldnt be able to pull this one off. Grin

To me they are the same thing. Axl is GNR.
I pretty much agree.
It wasn't always like that though.
