i dont seen an official press release saying its done,

the last i heard, the label hadnt even heard from Ax-man in months..

This looks hypocritical.

You want a press release to confirm the album being done, but I must've missed the press release from the record company....

Seems like it's only in cases of good news that you require press releases and proof, in other cases "hearing" stuff is just enough for you.

Says a lot!

Glad we got that sorted!  ok

You're assuming he quit! Did Tommy quit when he played with Soul Asylum? Did Richard quit when he played with Nena? Did Dizzy quit to tour with Jizzy? No! So don't assume Robin is gone.

But we heard about all those gigs/tours in an appropriate fashion without having to assume anything. NIN posting a picture of the current lead guitarist for GnR' stating 'Welcome Back' assumes a lot!

It doesn't mean he quit Guns. It doesn't even mean he is actually touring with NIN. Until we hear from Robin, don't assume the worst, that's all I'm saying.

If this means there is no GNR tour plans for 2008, then thats pretty sad.
If Robin left GNR, thats incredible sad! Lets hope we get updated on this pretty soon!!

yeah, I remember being worried about that, but it was just a tour and he probably had fun doing it , so there's no point in hitting the PANIC button prematurely.

He is touring with NIN, they have put out a press release stating so-he could also do both-this is a totally different band, but REM did not tour for Out of TIme or Automatic for the People, Michael Stipe did not do any press at all for AFTP-there are alternative ways for promoting an album, and not every member has to drop everything or stop everything around the time an album is released-chances are for obvious reasons Axl will do most of the press for the album anyway

Who Cares who Robin is going to tour with..... Unless the album is coming out, it doesn't matter, and it doesn't really matter that much if the album did come out. The only time it matters is for the tour.  The tour isn't going to be any time soon, so calm down people.

Where was this press release posted? The only place I've seen it is the velvet rope and if you are going to believe it just because its posted there then you're nuts.

Well Jarmo, we are a 1/3 through the year..... If 08 is year, not a ton of time is left for planning so I can understand why people would feel no tour this year.

i already made it clear that that was my "worst" fear...why should i assume anythign positive? i dont like NIN so that part of it does nothign for me

I also said that it may just be somethign for Robin to do while Axl irons out the legal crap....either way we dont know until we hear from Axl or Robin...whenever that may be..and i do hope the NIN thing is jsut temporary..but until we hear official word..and to quote Jarmo

We don't have any official news/comments on this yet.

I'm not saying this isn't true, I'm saying we don't know anything so it's pointless to speculate.

i think its pointless to speculate either way...but there are obviously different degrees of consequences here for Robin, GnR and for the fans  peace

That's the most stupid thing I've read all day, and I've been reading this thread all day.

thanks for your grand insight AdZ....for all you said there you woulda been better off not to comment at all...and does Adz get some kinda negative karma for calling my posts stupid?

Neemo, I really think that you're talking yourself into believing the bleakest scenario possible.  Trying to draw a parallel with an article from 8 years ago, when clearly the situation today for Robin is very different (recording finished, and very many successful shows under his belt), is not particularly helpful.  And to start talking about Robin leaving is premature to say the least.

i'm not beleiving anything until i hear from Axl and or robin...i am merely pointing out a worst case scenario...again you're assuming the record is finished cuz thats what you've been told is the truth, when the fact is that

WE DONT KNOW ANYTHING

a point i've been trying to make...

how close are we to the album being released? I DONT KNOW

is the lead guitar leaving gonna change matters? prolly not

will it help matters? certainly not

and all i have to base this on is when Robin left in 99...
i dont seen an official press release saying its done,

the last i heard, the label hadnt even heard from Ax-man in months..

Glad we got that sorted!  ok

well that the whole point i was trying to make...Axl says its done...the label says they havent heard from the band...so who's stretching the truth? let me guess...it must be the label

Let's assume he is in fact still with GnR' and just touring with NIN in the meantime. Do you think he would ok Trent posting a picture of him with a statement that could be mis-interpreted?

And you're point is? Trent has posted GNR related pictures before, he has a history of trying to fuck with GNR fans.

The artist or record label?

I already pointed out how you need press releases from GN'R but rely on hearsay when it comes from other sources.

No need to explain.

Aren't all the big festivals pretty much booked?  Ya, it could happen, just saying they would have to get busy fast.
