I don't think we should read much into him playing with NIN, did Fortus have to release a statement when he appeared with X Japan? What about Frank with the shows he has done? The simple factor is that there are no official GnR dates scheduled that conflict with Robin's NIN commitments - I imagine Robin just looked at his empty summer schedule and accepted Trent's offer. Sure it can be construed differently given Robin's past with NIN and the longevity of the tour (ie not just a few shows) but I don't think we should dwell on that side of things. Robin understands the way GnR works, the band members know about any possible plans way more in advance than us so I guess he knows there wont be any touring this summer

Robin's Robin. We're in negotiations for the release of Chinese Democracy and things are going well.

When we begin to put tour plans together we'll see where things are at. Until then, Robin's touring with NIN and we're working with management on our game plans.

Godspeed to Guns N' Robin! peace

thanks for the update.

This new statement basically breaks down like this...

"Our thanks to those who continue to show their support."
--This is a real us vs. them philosophy, and I don?t understand why it is necessary.

It?s like this: ?we are continuing going to neglect and abuse and lie to our fans, just to separate the real fans from the fake fans.?

--I am just saying that being a fan shouldn?t be so much work. it?s supposed to be fun! LOL

That line did catch my eye but in opposite respect.  I think it was a nice admission that being a fan of this band, relative to other major bands, isn't always easy, but that they appreciate the support for those who still wish to give it.  Kind of like the line at the end of "Get in the Ring"

Yeah this song is dedicated to All the Guns n' fuckin' Roses fans
Who stuck with us through all the
Fucking shit
And to all those opposed...
Hmm...well

Cheers,

Andrew

I'm hoping they do it Use your Illusion style and start touring before the release-I think it would be neat for them to be doing a concert the day of the release, and to help build up anticipation

Funny how those who actually support the band have no issues with that line.

But we've seen it all before. It's all fun until you're held responsible for what you say/post.

You can whine and whine about GN'R, but once you get called out on it by somebody in the GN'R camp, then it's "how dare he/she!".

I think they might be better off releasing the album and doing a major media blitz to get the public interested in and familiar with the new material and new lineup (whatever that may be) before touring to promote it.  But I wouldn't complain if they went another direction.

It reads like they're giving Robin maximum lee-way here... which is cool considering the uncertain and sporadic nature of all things GN'R during Robin's tenure over the last 10+ years. I am sure they're a little chaffed by the fact that he didn't tell them about it first and that he's being vague at the moment... but any band that features Axl Rose must be familiar with the notion that all great artists (which I think they believe Robin is) need to be given some breathing room and basically just left alone from time to time...

The "Let's re-visit this situation when the release and tour plans are finalized..." approach is the absolutely perfect way to play it for the moment.... and pretty good advice to the fanbase generally I might add. ok

Exactly. For every 1 of us that throws up their hands in frustration and walks away from this thing... there are probably 10 teenagers somewhere who are just getting into Appetite For Destruction for the first time and will eventually want to know what's going on with the band today and Axl, etc. I'm 31, and the same thing happened back in the day when my friends and I picked up our first ACDC, Zeppelin and Aerosmith CD's...

I think it's all laughable.

How hard is it to pick up the phone and say :

"Hey robin, what*the fuck* is up?"

maybe robin is placed in confinement by trent?

axl lives in malibu , the other band members are scattered , exactly how would they stay in contact, fortus just gave a interview where he states " Axl lives in malibu we don't talk much.

he doesn't state that. he only says that as axl lives in malibu he doesn't see him that often.

84 pages...it's not like it is AXL, jeez...  NIN music did nothing for me and never will. Robin is very good but very replaceable. I personally like the thought of GNR in need of a lead guitarist and that the greatest possible candidate just fired his lead singer.

Once the cd is released there is no way Robin would be foolish enough not to participate, come now there's way to much money to be made. And plus the years of hard work thrown away just before the release? I don't think so... Robin's in that's my opinion.

Anyone else feel that now the onus is on Robin to clarify his position and his plans?  I mean, now that GN'R has officially responded in what I thought was a very honest and courteous (towards Robin) way.

I see what you are saying, but the bottom line is we can't assume anything until we hear from all parties involved, namely Robin at this time.  Even then, we may not know what will happen down the road whenever GN'R starts to tour.
