Here Today...

« on: March 31, 2008, 07:35:15 PM »

Tonight, I decided to have a glass of wine with dinner.  This is the first glass of wine I have had since January of this year.

Why is it that wine tastes really good when you haven't had it in a while?

I am drinking Sauvignon blanc.

I actually prefer red wine over white wine and Chardonnay is just  no

How many of you drink wine and what is your favorite?

When i used to still be able to drink some ( I haven't been able to without pain for a while now), i used to prefer a good Bourgogne, and i tend to have a preference for reds.

The only white i can stand comes from the Haute Savoie region and i can't remember its name.

I don't have a particular liking of champagne either, i tried a lot of them, even extremely good ones and it doesn't do it for me.

Reds only, I really dislike white wine.

Merlot or Chianti are my favorites.

Not a real big wine drinker, every few months or so.  I can't say I'm much of an aficionado of vino, so long as it isn't in a twist off bottle or in a box

Best bottle I ever had...(and I don't have much), was a Santa Margarita pinot grigio.  (white)  I'm not a fan of reds.
God damn it was awesome.   beer

I don't like Chardonnay, but I did have one I did like on a Delta Airlines flight and I don't remember the name of it either.  But when I buy wine, it's usually a red.

Some really cheap Burgandy wine that comes in the flower vase glass.   5 bucks a bottle.......that stuff is all that.

They are starting to put screw tops on good wines too these days. The lower end stigma is still hanging around, but it should not. The wine makers realized it was cheaper and worked better than corks. Caymus Conundrum is a good example of this "new" style. Although I doubt we'll be seeing in on a bottle of P?trus anytime soon.  Grin

I have been guilty of drinking Riunite before...

I draw the line with taping the wine box closed.

haha, well....

You can get great value wines from Spain, Italy, and S America for CHEAP. In particular Chilean wines are great bang for the buck. Don't let the cheap prices fool you on those.

You only get a sip of that once a week.

When I was a kid I looked forward to the day when I would be allowed to take a sip.

For the blood of Christ you'd think they'd use a better quality wine......

In all seriousness though, you guys should check out the Loring Wine Company out of Cali.....their wines are highly rated and were featured on a lot of top lists.  It was pretty rough to get ahold of, just to get on the mailing list and be able to get some because they had a really low production.  Now they have two more vineyards and are able to meet a little higher demand.  Bottles run $50 each, but are well worth it.

Wait a minute!  I thought Manischewitz was communion wine!  It's either that or Red Rose!  Both cheap & potent!

I'm a wino, at heart.  I really don't like the chardonnays or sauvignon or pinos or white zins....I like wines made here in Michigan.  My favorites are Winter White from Leelanau Cellars and cherry wine from Traverse Bay Winery.  They are sweet wines, which I like most.

Of course, there's always Boonesfarm!   drool (that's barf, not drool)  Country Kwencher.  The wine we drank in high school.  It's like a wine cooler, really!

Which wine makes it difficult for you to use a watch?

Just curious...

well, if you want to get loaded, buy some cheap wines, I'd recommend some wine-in-the-box.

Also, considering the next morning hang over, it would be good to buy some beers while you're at it to give you a smooth start next morning before opening another wine-in-the-box.
