AXL ROSE Signs With SCOTT WEILAND's Management - Mar. 27, 2008
GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose has made the following announcement:
"I am very pleased to announce that GUNS N' ROSES and I are now represented by the management team of Irving Azoff and Andy Gould. We are very excited and look forward to working with them and hope our relationship proves beneficial for everyone, especially the fans."
It is interesting to note that up until recently, Azoff Music also managed VELVET REVOLVER, the band featuring Axl's former GN'R bandmates Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum. Azoff is continuing to represent VR's singer, Scott Weiland, an Azoff spokesperson confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET.
According to a press release, the Dr. Pepper soft drink company has promised a free can of its signature soda to "everyone in America" if GUNS N' ROSES releases its long-delayed new album, "Chinese Democracy", in 2008. Dr. Pepper director of marketing Jaxie Alt said in a statement, "It took a little patience to perfect Dr. Pepper's special mix of 23 ingredients, which our fans have come to know and love. So we completely understand and empathize with Axl's quest for perfection ? for something more than the average album. We know once it's released, people will refer to it as 'Dr Pepper for the ears'because it will be such a refreshing blend of rich, bold sounds ? an instant classic."
Axl Rose responded in a statement: "We are surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr. Pepper with our album, 'Chinese Democracy', as for us this came totally out of the blue. If there is any involvement with this promotion by our record company or others, we are unaware of such at this time."
"Chinese Democracy" has reportedly been in the works since 1995, with Rose the only original member still in the band. According to a report published two years ago by the New York Times, Rose had allegedly burned through $13 million in the studio by that point.
Although a revamped GUNS lineup toured successfully in 2006 and Rose tentatively promised that the record would be out last March, it never materialized and little has been heard about it since.

Ali, I think you're looking for things that aren't there and over analyzing this....
The two news stories aren't connected as far as I know, and GN'R didn't know about the Dr Pepper thing beforehand.
Just like Fernando said and Smoking Guns was told in an
e-mail
.
/jarmo
Jarmo, I will concede that I certainly have a habit of overanalyzing things
However, I do not think that the Dr. Pepper thing was orchestrated by GN'R or the label, nor I do feel there is any connection between the two stories.
I merely think that one may serve to be a very big and beneficial promotional vehicle should the album drop this year and the other is a very positive thing given Mr. Azoff's reputation and history with very successful acts.
In short, I'm excited as a fan by an interesting couple of days and I do have a habit of overanalyzing, particularly in a state of excitement.

Things are moving, It's been a long journey for the fans so think how it must of been for the band! Can't wait to see those guys touring / promoting and making videos again. It's going to be the single most important album release of all time.

So..in light of everything that has gone down in the last week or so, everything - VR breaking up, Dr P, Axl joining Scott's management team.....I'm thinkin' - VR & GnR are going to team up (under one management), CD will be released, they'll all go out on tour, together, to promote it - with Dr P's sponsorship & financial backing.

I'm curious if the new management is going to negotiate with the Record Company about certain stuff regarding CD or what the status is. Hmm.
Regardless this is great news and will help a lot!!

When it rains, it pours.
(In regards to all this good news.)
Axl wouldn't have chosen Azoff and Gould if he thought they wouldn't be good towards the fans. Every move seems to have been well thought out. Measure twice, cut once.
Good deal all around.

am I the only one who find this quite amusing ?
hope they'll do a better job than for VR...
