Dr Pepper plans to give out the soda through a couponing strategy. Consumers will need to register at the brand's website for a coupon that can then be redeemed at any retailer that sells Dr Pepper. The coupons, which are limited to one per person, will only be available for 24 hours beginning after midnight on Nov. 23. A back-of-the-napkin equation would put 300 million cans of soda (which wholesales in the range of 55 cents a pop) at about $165 million.

Couponing and sampling experts said that the company could eventually shell out several million dollars in free soda, given the press the challenge has attracted.

I dunno I think if the coupon itself had something about it being for the release of the new GNR album I don't know that I'd wanna turn it in for a can of Dr Pepper seems it'd be cooler to just keep it.

Apparently investors are expecting a lot of people to cash in on this promotion, as the soda's parent company's stock took a bit of a dive upon the album's title track hitting radio.

You mean 4-6 weeks after the 23rd?  That is a long time to get the coupons, I like the promotion but I wish they would have made it so you can just print out the coupon after you fill out the info.
