I know LP is huge, but could there be a tiny possiblity he does it as a one off project?
I'd say the possibility would fall into the "slim to none" category.

Rockers celebrate staying clean
Alice Cooper and Slash have been honoured in Hollywood for inspiring others in the music industry to stay clean.
The legendary rocker and renowned guitarist were both given awards at the fourth annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit concert at The Music Box.
Alice picked up the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for helping other addicts with the recovery process. Slash received the MusiCares From the Heart Award for his dedication to the mission of the charity - which provides musicians access to treatment for addiction.
Alice told reporters the award was quite an achievement: "It's great because you're getting an award for pretty much not dying, you know, and then helping other people to not die. I think that when that happens you gladly try to help your fraternity brothers not to die."
A host of other rockers also stepped out at the fundraiser to show their support, including Red Hot Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Chester Bennington.
The Linkin Park front man explained how the charity was personally important to him: "It's pretty close to home, I'm a recovering alcoholic myself. MusiCares is important to me because its different being sober and being in the spotlight and being a successful rock musician."
Chester said the evening's honorees were evidence that a rock lifestyle doesn't have to include drugs and alcohol: "I think it's difficult but it's definitely possible. You see guys like Alice Cooper, you see guys like Slash doing it, and that's good proof that it can be done."

Thanks to Matt Sorum and
www.mattsorum.tv
for the following:
Oh Man People life is Crazy,
Friday night played the Map Honors for Slash and Alice Cooper. Rehearsed that afternoon. Steven Tyler came down as did Robin Zander from Cheap Trick. Billy Duffy, Jerry Cantrell , Duff , Wayne Kramer and Morrison on guitars along with Slash. We played Surrender, Goina To Raise Hell with Robin. He is so good, what a singer. Eighteen with Chester Bennington. My favorite young singer right now. Super cool attitude too. And then the great Steven Tyler blew the place away with Mama Kin and the finale Whole Lotta Love. Wow man sometimes i just have to pinch myself. I am the luckiest guy on this planet man!!!!!! Congrats my man Slash and the Great Alice Cooper who came out and rocked the house with Billion Dollar Babies, Schools Out and more.
Wish you could have been there,
Love Live Rock n Roll,
Matt

Isn't this all slightly hypocritical on slash's part? I think it's very worthy, but a lot of it smacks of plain lies (pardon the pun)

Slash has spent the best part of 44 years of his life drinking and on drugs, and he last visited rehab, what, 9 months ago? Seems like a bit of a joke to me (albeit one with a very worthy cause)

SLASH: 'I'M BETTER SOBER'
12/05/2008
Rocker SLASH insists he's a better guitarist now he's given up alcohol - and a better father too.
The former Guns N' Roses star checked into rehab to tackle his drinking problem, and insists that was all he needed to help him realise it was time to quit boozing for good.
And he claims Velvet Revolver fans are the beneficiaries of his sobriety - because he's a better guitarist than ever.
He tells Britain's Mojo magazine, "Wanting to do what I do to the best of my ability is a major motivation for me.
"I'm a helluva lot better guitar player since I've been sober."
And his sobriety has boosted his role as a dad: "You can't be loaded all the time. I tried that and it didn't work. They (kids) don't think to take a nap when you pass out on the floor."
But he'll never clean up so much that he becomes a yoga-loving, gym-using rocker, like so many of his once addicted peers.
He chuckles, "Working out and all that bulls**t? I can't stand it... It's lame.
"In the month that I spent rehabilitating myself, I met all those characters with the yoga mats and the leotards, but I just didn't sign up."

Alright Smoke, I'll give you
remote
..
Maybe a movie soundtrack or something, "VR featuring Chester Bennington" or something of that nature.
I just don't see it for anything beyond a one off (at most if at all), commitment and logistics in regards to balancing LP and VR would be an issue...

Aerosmith Rocker Steven Tyler Checks Into Rehab
May 21, 2008
Earlier this month Tyler joined fellow rock stars Alice Cooper and Guns N Roses guitarist Slash at a concert focused on sobriety. At the show Tyler was asked about Slash, who was known for his wild ways in the past:
"Forget it, beyond belief. He's been through hell and high water, and he's come out the other side."
Hopefully Tyler's rock star friends and celebrity pals will be able to help him with his battle now that he is in need.

In their defense, sobriety is something a person works at every day. One could have a relapse at any time. Recognizing that you need help, even if it's again, and seeking that help is a positive thing - and there's nothing wrong with that.
Last rehab stint Slash had, that I know of, was 2 yrs ago. He was honored for his "unconditional friendship and dedication to the mission and goals of the organization". I'm sure the organization wouldn't have given him the honor if it/they didn't feel he was worthy of it. Yeah, he spent a lot of years fucked up, but appears to be making an honest attempt to live life sober.
He's 42, BTW, not 44.
