Yeah, as an Eagles fan, it's hard for me to keep defending Andy Reid. A lot of Philly fans seem to hate McNabb, and although he was pretty bad against Cincy, he's still one of the better QBs in the league. McNabb isn't the reason the Eagles keep losing--- it's Andy Reid's and his boring, predictable play-calling. The pass/run ratio has always been heavily skewed for the Eagles, but it's as bad as ever this season. McNabb threw 58 times in that game, and they only ran it like 17 times total. The only excuse for that would be if the Bengals had scored 40 points in the 1st quarter (or if you have Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin on your team). Westbrook is one of the best playmakers in the NFL--- He should be getting the ball as often as possible.
The Eagles have enough talent to be a Superbowl contender . . . The games they've lost this year have all been incredibly close and most have come down to bad play-calling in goal-line and 4th-and-1 situations. They're capable of beating any team in this league, but they're maddeningly inconsistent. To me, that falls on the coaches.

I blame the entire Eagle Organization.
Every season they are millions under the cap. Go get McNabb some receivers.
they are throwing it 40 times a game to guys who would be lucky to be number 2's on good teams.

sorry, defense has to have some ownership in that game too. Didn't Housh catch 12 balls for a buck fifty? Thankfully, I didn't have to watch the whole damn game...CBS offered up Ravens-Giants which was interesting up until Derrick Mason f'd up a pass and a Giant took it to the house to seal the deal. Damn, the Giants are so solid.
Nah, when u give up 13pts in the NFL, Thats pretty solid D.

exactly! especially when your QB turned the ball over 4 times! one of which was on the 1 yard line on a fumble. and the D held them to a FG!
the D is the reason they didn't get blown out yesterday.
13 points over 5 quartes on the road in fucking incredible.
then factor in how many possessions Cincy had because of the pathetic display of offense by the eagles. the time of possession was 41:44 to 33:16 in favor of Cincy. all those 3 and outs, turnovers, the usual slow start by mcnabb, etc. put an immense amount of pressure on the D.
if the D hadn't played so incredibly, the eagles would not even have been in that game yesterday.

Brady legacy starting to take a bit of a hit?
Is it the system?
No way in hell is brady's legacy taking a hit. Cassel is playing great in a system being made for him that doesnt allow him to make many decisions. He had some great plays against the jets but he still had plenty of what the fuck are you doing? moments. He's developing nicely but still cant complete a pass past 15 yards to save his life and he was mostly completing passes where coverages were off. He worked the right side, where single coverage was, all fucking night. He is getting better but I don't believe this guy is anywhere near Tom Brady. Just look at the drive before the game tieing drive. There were definetly what the fuck moments and almost lost the game right there. Luckily the defense stopped em to give him another chance. Fantastic throw at the end of the game and a great game overall but if Brady's knee is not infected anymore and he rehabs just fine than cassel will move on and New England will have brady back and a better start next year than 6-4.

Donovan McNabb is a moron! I've always hated him!
Check this bitch out,
Donovan McNabb didn't know that NFL games could end in ties-
By Chris Chase
Donovan McNabb's team tied the Cincinnati Bengals yesterday, an outcome which came as a complete surprise to the 10-year NFL veteran:
What did ... I mean ... how can ... wow. That's it, wow. He didn't know that games could end in a tie. You know who knows that games can end in ties? Everyone. Even Tony Siragusa knows that. Yet a quarterback who has led his team to four NFC Championship Games and one Super Bowl didn't know. I mean, it's not like the referee says it before every overtime session! (And to those who think he's joking, he's not. Donovan laughs at his own jokes more than Jon Stewart; his demeanor was far too serious for that to be a joke, despite what his inevitable excuse is today.)
What did Donovan think that "T" section in the standings was next to the "W" and "L"? Was he confused when he had to run a hurry up offense with two minutes left? And in 2002, when his team played the 9-6-1 Falcons in the playoffs, did McNabb think those numbers represented the Atlanta area code?
Maybe athletes' lack of knowledge about the sports they play is more widespread than we know. (This would explain Joe Morgan.) A friend of mine who played college football had no clue that there wasn't a two-minute warning in the college game. But I just emailed him and even he knew that NFL games end in ties.

Yeah, that's pretty crazy that McNabb claims he didn't know you could have a tie in the NFL. When I first heard about that, I thought, well, McNabb was obviously joking . . . But then I saw the actual press conference, and yeah, he was being serious. Supposedly he wasn't the player who was unaware of it, either . . . And Andy Reid also voiced confusion about how ties work in the standings. Very strange, indeed.
I'm trying to put a positive spin on yesterday's game, like, well, at least the Eagles didn't
lose
. They're way better than they played. I mean, just the week before, they put up 30-something points against that tough Giants D, and had it not been for Reid's retarded playcalling during the two-minute drill, I think the Eagles could've finished marching down the field and won the game.
Too bad they don't play in the NFC North. They'd actually be leading that division right now. Instead they're at the bottom of the NFC East. The Eagles have a tendency of finishing seasons strong and they will probably have to win 5 of the next 6 to make the playoffs. It's hard to see that happening, but hey, you never know!!

The tie kills them because they are now a half game behind Washington,Dallas and Atlanta.
Wash and Dallas could end 10-6 and Philly 9-6-1 and tying the Bengals keep them out when that should've been a gimme game.

It's sad that today's professional athletes play in a sport that can result in a tie between two teams. Pathetic!

Since Donovan is always a hot topic.
http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/11/17/cutting-mcnabb-would-create-8-million-in-2009-cap-space/
CUTTING MCNABB WOULD CREATE $8 MILLION IN 2009 CAP SPACE
Posted by Mike Florio on November 17, 2008, 2:54 p.m. EST
As the City of Philadelphia buzzes with Eagles fans who hope that quarterback Donovan McNabb has only six games remaining in his career with the team, we?re told that the Eagles would save a nice chunk of change ? and cap space ? if they pull the plug on McNabb after the season.
With a 2009 base salary of $9.2 million and a remaining bonus proration of $1.16 million, dumping McNabb would create more than $8 million in 2009 cap space.
Carrying the $1.16 million in dead money would be no big deal for the Eagles, especially since they pushed more than $10 million of 2008 cap surplus into 2009 via a phony eight-figure LTBE incentive given to fullback/defensive tackle/fullback/defensive tackle/fullback Dan Klecko.
In all, McNabb is signed through 2013. His salaries after next season are $10 million, $12.07 million, $14.1 million, and $16.2 million.
There is no bonus proration remaining on the deal after 2009.
Trading McNabb is a longshot, absent a significant restructuring of his deal.
And so, in an offseason in which an unprecedented number of quarterbacks with significant name recognition might be available, McNabb could be one of the most prominent players looking for a new home.

^^^ That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. There's no way in hell the Eagles would ever
cut
McNabb. If anything, they would trade the guy, and get a hell of a lot out of him. And who cares how much salary cap space you create when you're dooming your team for the next several seasons, because Kevin Kolb sure as hell ain't the answer.
The Eagles need to find a true number one WR in the offseason. They need to find a big, bruising RB that can become a goal-line specialist, 3rd down back. And they need a new offensive coordinator who will bring a new philosophy to the team. Most of all, they need to stop throwing it 58 times a game and start giving Westbrook the ball more than just 15 times.
Eagles' fans still bring up Jeff Garcia . . . The Eagles went on a winning streak then not because Garcia was the QB, but because Reid finally started relying more heavily on the running game instead of throwing 70% of the time.
McNabb is not the problem in Philadelphia, it's the coaching staff.

So Thomas is the straw that breaks the camels back? Brady, Harrison, Maroney, a few DB's we could do without. But Thomas pushes it over the edge? I hear you. His loss certainly doesn't help the situation. I wouldn't pronounce them dead because of the injury though. Their defense wasn't exactly flying high when he was healthy.

Faldor, yeah, to me the straw that broke the camel's back was the loss to the Jets coupled with Thomas' season-ending injury. I may be wrong, I hope I am...but I think 9-7 is the best-case scenario with 8-8 being more likely. Jets, Titans, Steelers, some shitty team from the West-probably the Chargers, along with the Colts...hey, who knows, maybe 9-7 could be a logjam of marginal teams tied for the 2nd wildcard slot in the AFC.

Wow 8-8? You think they're gonna go 2-5 in the final 7 games? Man I hope you're wrong. They played the Jets game without Adalius, he got hurt against the Bills. Of course the DID lose that game and the defense was terrible in the first half and overtime. They played pretty well in the second half though, allowing the offense to get back in the game. I just think their schedule is weak enough they'll finish 9-7 at worst, hopefully 10-6 or even 11-5 (obviously wishful thinking). That loss to the Jets was huge, no doubt. That makes this weeks game @ Miami REALLY important. If they can avenge that loss, they're right back in it. If they lose that makes the following weeks game against Pitt an absolute must win. @Oak, @Seattle should be wins. Home against Arizona in the December cold could definitely be a win. Arizona doesn't have a very good record on the east coast. @Buffalo last game of the year could be very important. The Bills certainly don't look too good right now. Not that that game would be easy, but if Cleveland can beat them at Buffalo, NE surely can. Bottom line is they're all winnable games. Of course I don't expect them to win them all, but I also don't see them going 2-4.

I think whoever wins this week between Miami and New England will go on to be one of the wildcard teams. Miami has a very easy schedule down the stretch.

Now the big question D is, do you have the Titans running the table? Will the Giants be facing yet another 18-0 team in the Super Bowl for the second consecutive year? How crazy would that be? I saw an interview with Mercury Morris early this week and he said he was rooting for the Titans to run the table. He was asked why, when he's been so against the Colts and Patriots, etc. in the past. He said he would've been fine with the Colts, because they played the game the right way. But with the Patriots, everyone was annointing them the best team ever after week 2 and they were a bunch of superstars and not a real team. He said the Titans are a lot like his Dolphins team. Not respected, and said if they faced the Giants in the Super Bowl (who could have only one loss by then) they'd probably be underdogs even if they were still undefeated, just like the Dolphins were.
He's such a douche! I know a lot of you probably agree with him. But seriously, he was SO against the Patriots last year. And don't try to tell me he would've been fine with the Colts, he wasn't singing that song back when they were 13-0. And I'd be willing to bet if the Titans continue to win, he'll be rooting hard against them. He just doesn't think they can do it, that's all it is. And I agree. Count me down as one who doesn't respect the Titans, but I think they are the worst 10-0 team of all time. Don't get me wrong, they've got a great defense and a great running game, but Kerry Collins is not that good, and his receivers are even worse. At least Trent Dilfer had Shannon Sharpe and Brandon Stokely to throw to. You'd be hard pressed to name 2 Titan receivers right now. I can't see them staying undefeated much longer. Then again, the AFC is down this year, so I think that's playing into things right now.
